Inspired by biblical thread "Let's discuss a single tune...", here's a similar version for the bands. But rather that just discuss about the band, let's make it more complete: you can introduce the band to an other member, rank your favourite songs, post your favourite live versions, make the critic of an album, well, you can talk about pretty much everything concerning the band. The goal is to put a band into the "spotlight" for a week and try to show what makes the uniqueness of the act. For this week, you have 4 choices: Belle and Sebastian, Big Star, The Divine Comedy and The Coral. Next week, anyone could nominate one song.

Good idea!
Personally, I don't know a great amount about any of these four bands (besides B&S's Boy With the Arab Strap and Big Star's September Girls), but this could be a good way to learn more about and discuss them.

I saw The Coral for the first time when they supported Oasis on DBTT tour in 2005, but didn't know anything about them back then. I liked their songs, but that was it. Their album "Butterfly House" from 2010 made me got into them. It was and still is a great album. I was completely sold when I heard "Roving Jewel" for the very first time. I saw them in October 2010 for the second time and I met James before the gig. In Total I've seen them 4 times (2005, 2010, 2011,2016). My Mancunian friend never wanted to try to give a listen to The Coral, just because they're from Liverpool (stupid!), but I made him to listen to "Butterfly House" and he liked it.
For some reason they're still (shamely) underrated, but if there's any British band with the legacy of The Beatles, it should be The Coral.

I saw Coral supporting Oasis at Finsbury in 02, they were very impressive given the size of the gig and how early their career it was
Much better than Shack who followed them and were dire
The Debut and 2nd album are great but I lost touch with them when they appeared to be releasing an album every year or so it seemed
