both ''BE'' albums could easily top the charts almost any other week of the year. bad luck syndrome and they lost the chance to have 2 #1 albums.. Liam's (BE'S) fanbase could make it #1 unless Ed Sheeran's new lp stay #1 for the rest of the 2-3 next years!!! Don't know what all the fuss is about with that scruffy ginger boy

Just noticed that both Chasing Yesterday & BE sold around 100 000 in the UK. (wikipedia source) Funny that BE is considered as a commercial failure & CY as a succes. (in my head anyway)

(in my head anyway) chasing yesterday very, very likely sold way more than only 100k copies. it sold 89k copies in the first week alone. www.nme.com/news/music/noel-gallagher-125-1217557

Just didn't go platinum which means it's between 100 & 300 000 copies?

(in my head anyway) I believe your figures are off. Chasing Yesterday debuted with 89k sold. Last count, it has sold 279k. It stayed on the album charts for nearly a year. I believe BE sold 120k in total. It essentially fell off a cliff after 3 weeks. I think it's pretty clear why one is deemed a success and the other a failure. In case you're wondering. The figure above came from here: www.ukmix.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=82837&start=1100Not sure if it sold 279k. That feels a bit high to me, but I'm pretty sure it sold somewhere in the range of 230-280k.

With drops in record sales, and reliance on streaming, I think that 20-30k would be a super solid debut number for him (BE debuted with 35k back in 2013 and DGSS had 67k back in 2011).
I think the problem for Liam will be longevity.
Beady Eye had high chart placements, but they were off the charts relatively quickly (in the case of DGSS within a month and a half, and in the case of BE, a few weeks).
Noel on the other hand, has had high chartings and longevity. HFB's stayed on the charts for a year and a half, while CY was nearly a year.
Tl;dr #1 doesn't matter if you're off the charts within a month.

Sleaford Mods made no. 12 with "English Tapas" and would surely have cracked the top 10 without Ed Sheeran and I remember All Saints with their faithfull fan base made no. 3, so Liam surely should get a decent position, maybe even no. 1 in a "good" week.
And of course it counts from a PR point of view.

tbh to me, "chart position" means next to nothing, its about how long it can stay up there, BE was a number 2 album behind black sabbaths album but by about week 3, Definitely maybe was about 84 while BE had dropped off the top 100.
Id say Liam has the potential for a number 1 album simply out of his fans going out and picking it up on release but if it tanks right off the charts after a week then its not really much to talk about as it clearly hasnt caught on with the public to keep it up there, the number 1 position would simply be the result of an already established, pre-existing fan base rather than the album being strong enough on its own.
Liam is famous enough from past work to get a good chart position out the gate, beady eye did it and they wernt even that popular, the only time getting a decent chart position on its own merit is worth talking about is when the act in question is completely new (eg no previous work in the industry) and enough people have taken enough notice to go and buy it.
"number 1 album for 10 weeks" is a lot more impressive than "number 1 album for a week"

It is, of course, totally meaningless and irrelevant - but I still really want it to get to #1.
COME ON LIAM!!

Probably 3 or 4. It really depends whats out around at the time. It could quite easily get to no. 1 if its released at the right time.
That said, it wouldn't at even surprise me to see it go as low as 8 or 9 or something. I think he still has enough fans to keep it in the top 3 or 4 though, plus with it being under his name rather than Beady Eye, it might gain even more interest.

album will be top ten, single top 30 or 40. let's be realistic, this is 2017. See post above re Blossoms getting #1 with 15k sales. Liam has a big enough casual fanbase to make #1 under the right circumstances. I'm not saying it's guaranteed but he could do it - BDI only just missed it. I agree singles are unlikely to bother the charts though.
