Paul Weller's first ever film score is set for release Friday 10th March on vinyl LP, CD, download and stream.
A former youth boxing champion, Jimmy McCabe (Johnny Harris), is a man desperately in search of hope, but looking in all the wrong places. When he hits rock bottom he turns to his childhood boxing club and the only family he has left: gym owner Bill (Ray Winstone) cornerman Eddie (Michael Smiley) and promoter Joe (Ian McShane). In a battle between fear and faith, Jimmy risks his life, as he tries to stand tall and regain his place in the world.
'Jawbone' hits UK cinemas on 17th March.
"Paul would constantly send through any new ideas, demos, or recordings, and what was unique and beautiful about this approach was that Paul's new compositions were now inspiring and influencing the story as I was re-writing it. I'd also send Paul through new drafts of the script, or any new ideas as they were forming along the way, and a beautifully collaborative process evolved" - Johnny Harris
'The Ballad Of Jimmy McCabe' is available now as an individual download or as an instant download when you pre-order the album (download only via Amazon).

As a big fan of film scores in general I'm looking forward to it.

Currently listening to the album on Spotify. The first track is an astounding piece of atmospheric music and The Ballad of Jimmy McCabe is already one of Weller's finest acoustic songs. I'll be buying the CD soon.

Just finished listening. The record can't and shouldn't be compared to Weller's proper albums, but it's a very good soundtrack. It's got a great long-format composition and a compilation-worthy song for the ages (Jimmy McCabe), plus another very good acoustic track and some other cool pieces. Totally recommended
I'd bet both Noel and Liam have played Jimmy McCabe on guitar a few times since the track was released. Both of them could learn a thing or two from Paul Weller.

I haven't listened to the entire album yet as I was very busy today, but I do agree what Doc Lobster said above. The Ballad Of Jimmy McCabe is so beautiful, a soulful song. I hope he'll play it when I see him in June again. This "changing man" never bores me. Weller was on Radio 4's Front Row today talking about this first soundtrack album. You can download it on their website. www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b08gwfz7
