I'm outta time is timeless masterpiece. Best thing off DOYS by a country mile.
But why the hell was boy with the blues left off?
I bet Noel was the one who didn't want it on, properly didn't want Liam over shadowing him...

I bet Noel was the one who didn't want it on, properly didn't want Liam over shadowing him... 'I''m Outta Time' is too much of a John Lennon pastiche for me, even by Liam's standards, especially as this one actually seemed contrived. Noel actually seemed quite enthusiastic about the song in 2007 in an interview with NME I don't know why 'Boy With the Blues' was left off but it was originally from the DBTT era and at one point it was considered as a single, eventually coming out as a digital only download and extra on the deluxe set- NME 2005- Oasis plan brand new single

The Boy With The Blues sounds nothing like DOYS. It belongs to DBTT. And I don't like it. There's no life in it.

I'm not sure I could put together a 10 track album of Liam tunes and not ultimately be disappointed by it.
-----
I voted for everything I could that had ZERO votes.

The Boy With The Blues really is fucking brilliant, listening to it now. Should of closed DOYS. Could of been an anthem live as well, big choir singing "come all together for you" over Liam and Noel. Should of been done at the Electric Proms.

"Ah. That explains the muffin vote... "
Muffins is pretty bad, but as a general rule I think Liam's tunes get slagged too much b/c they are compared to Noel's tunes. That comparison isn't fair frankly. Even though I get that it has to be that way.

I remember being really excited by DBTT, feeling like we were maybe entering an era when Liam could match Noel for writing. Obviously I look back now and it was total bollocks.... Liam's input there hasn't aged that well and very mixed output ever since
Anyway I'll go for
Soldier On (amazing vocal) Wigwam Songbird Guess God thinks I'm Abel Soul Love
Also keen on Worlds not Set in Stone - can't put my finger on it but is there a Roy Orbison tube that this rips off?

As for I'm Outta Time, a really nice song but the Lennon vibes on the production grate massively - if I want Lennon pastiches I will just listen to Lennon. And then the vocal sample at the end comes on and the reaction is like..... Would have been preferable to have it stripped back - just an acoustic guitar and a piano. A bit like Lily Allen's version which I like. I'll vote for the underdog here and say Soldier On which is unfairly chucked in with the appalling second half of Dig Out Your Soul. That would have been a really great closer had the band not fucked up spectacularly with the previous three awful tracks. What it needed was a slew of massive songs towards the end culminating in a huge finale, thus making Soldier On the perfect 'epilogue' to the album (much like how Married With Children works as the epilogue to Definitely Maybe, because I regard Slide Away as the 'finale' of that album).

For me, Solider On is a far superior song to Boy with the Blues. Quite honestly, Boy with the Blues is boring. The lyrics are okay. The solo is okay. The structure is like most Liam songs, let's find a decent melodic drive and repeat it to death. It's everything that can go wrong with his songwriting. It's a severely and massively overrated song. And it was exactly the type of song that Oasis shouldn't have been doing anymore.

problem with the lennon speech at the end of im outta time is you cant even hear it, like Noel said its just muffled gibberish, you cant even hear it so it might as well not be there, if you want to include a speech then at least make it audible, kind of makes me laugh that Noel noticed that yet they didnt change it, its not even like that for artistic reasons, you just cant hear it.
other than that I quite like the studio version, it flows better than the demo or the live version.
as for BWTB, it has a verse, then a bridge then....verse again, this coupled with the lines repeated way too many times at the end reduce the song down to something less than it couldve been, just feels abit half baked for me.

I believe there was an interview where someone told him that TBWTL sounded better with guitars than sitars, and Noel basically said, that it wasn't his song so he can't say too much. Basically saying that he didn't agree with a sitar sound either. I think the same could be said of I'm Outta Time.
