Probably All in the Mind isn't a great song, but it still pisses on most of the tracks from DBTT and DOYS. What tracks would you say it is superior to? I would say it's easily better than: Mucky Fingers Love Like a Bomb (Get Off Your) High Horse Lady The Nature of Reality Ain't Got Nothin' Soldier On Keep The Dream Alive

I would take Ain't Got Nothing and Nature of Reality over She is Love and PAITM any day of the week,
Words cannot describe how shit I think Heathen Chemistry is, LOOK at those songs!! Force of Nature, HIABP, A Quick Peep, PAITM, She is Love, Better Man and The Cage on the same album?!!!

I know you can't stand the last two studio albums but that song is rubbish, and part of an album that tried and failed to do a successful retread of the 1994-1996 glory years without moving on at all.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think it's a good song......but come on it's not THAT bad. You can't tell me that GOYHHL is a better 'song' than PAITM.

(Probably) All In The Mind drags pretty horribly, but it cannot match A Quick Peep for utter worthlessness.

That's the tune Andy Bell is going to do an hour long solo version of as the support act to the Oasis reunion IIRC- He'll be getting the high end session musician rate as well the lucky bugger

I never understood the immense hate for a quick peep, its so short its over before it can piss you off too much acc its quite funky if it catches me at the right time.I kinda dig it.

I know, but at least HC has some redeeming features (mainly the singles released) plus some very good B sides. Whereas there is hardly anything I like about the last 2 albums at all.

I agree with you that TBWTL is shite.

I know, but at least HC has some redeeming features (mainly the singles released) plus some very good B sides. Whereas there is hardly anything I like about the last 2 albums at all. Have to disagree on the singles where they bottled it ('Hindu Times' official vs demo), had a go at rewriting the nineties ('Stop Crying Your Heart Out' and 'Little By Little') or did an admittedly catchy song that I'm not sure was single material ('Songbird'). Where I do agree with you is the b-sides, which is probably part of what makes that album even more frustrating for me in that a couple of braver decisions regarding production and style combined with better track list choices and you instantly to my mind have a superior album whilst still using songs that were available at the time. The last two albums fair enough, diffferent opinions and tastes, etc. I still like songs from those two records but can see why anyone coming off the classic 1994-1997 era might disagree as to the quality.

Love Like a Bomb is a fucking abomination, probably Liam's worst vocal and generally just an awful song in every aspect. I really don't see how you can prefer that to PAITM.

Llab is a fun little song, liams voice isnt good at that time but he reaches all the notes in the song so I can let him off the vocal take in paitm is attrocious the production is gaudy at best, it is the deifinition of old man rock. It is an abomination that needs to be sterilised!

A bit concerned for individuals that think PAITM is a better song than Falling Down.

I don't actually dislike any songs off HC.
I dislike how many of them turned out, but I have no hard feelings towards this album. I think the influence of U2's very successful 'All that you Can't Leave Behind' album had a lot to do with HC becoming the album it did.

I think the reaction to SOTSOG, Noel coming off downers and a successful tour up close with The Black Crowes coinciding with the rebirth of garage rock led by The Strokes helped as well.

The rest of those songs listed are obviously better, with the exception of Love Like A Bomb, which is another shocker.
