carlober you've picked my interest in that band "Flyying Colours". Never heard of them, I'm gonna take a listen. Sounds promising. There are some bands I don't know in your honourable mention list, so I'm gonna listen to these, aswell. Also, no Bowie tracks ? You don't dig the album "Blackstar" ? I dig Blackstar but I'm not a huge Bowie fan to be honest. I know this sounds like blasphemy, especially as today would have been his 70th birthday. I have enormous respect for him both as a man and as an artist of course, but I almost never think "oh, I want to listen to some Bowie". Also, I've never gone too deep into his back catalogue, I'll have to do a full immersion into his less-known discography sooner rather than later! Beyoncé Blackstar has to be in any "best albums of 2016" list though

I can only encourage you to make that full immersion you won't be disappointed Bowie is, imo, the best solo artist of all the time, by far. And a lot of his finest gems are not well known album tracks. I know almost everything by Bowie in the 70's and that's here that is the big majority of his masterpieces. theyknowwhatimean might know more than me his 90's stuff, but everything he has made in the 70's is a must hear , except for " Pin Ups " and " Young Americans " (never fully got that one ).

It must have been a horrid year for music if a Rihanna track makes it to a "Best song released in 2016" thread
