This morning I was listening to the radio and they were about to talk about football but right before, they played this song. When I heard it was I thought "Wow, this sounds like Alone on the Rope!"
I'm not saying it sounds exactly the same obviously. Alone on the Rope is an awesome song. But the drums and the bass are clearly highly inspired from AOTR.
I don't even know that singer so I dug around a bit because, at first, I tought that Noel had nicked it from that song, like he does sometimes. But no, that song came out in 2016.

This is more Burt Bacharach then Noel, but there is a similarity there for sure.

Burt Bacharach composed, often with his songwriting partner Hal Davis, a lot of remarkable pop songs that became classics, which have been recorded by countless prestigious artists from the 60's onwards, but when he recorded them himself he made easy listening music, i.e. the production sounds like the Benjamin Biolay track above. Burt Bacharach is the main inspiration behind Half The World Away (This Guy's In Love With You ) and Going Nowhere.
I believe Noel mentioned him quite a few times as a big inspiration.

He also put 'Bacharach horns' on Don't Go Away because he saw it (or at least the line, "All we seem to know is how to show the feelings that are wrong") as like a "break up song" - and obviously, Bacharach's written a few of those in his time...

Noel covering Burt Bacharach's "This guy's in love with you" in 1996 I've always loved that cover. Must have been the only time Noel ONLY sang a song live.

Did he ever play Tomorrow Never Knows other than on that Lennon tribute show?

There's actually a Burt Bacharach poster on the album artwork for Definitely Maybe right in front of the couch.
