Really liking this new Courteeners album. I get the impression they aren't particularly popular on this forum but I feel like this is a very cool album. Lots of cool sounds all over the shop with 'Kitchen' being a particular favourite of mine.
In my opinion the Courteeners have always been a band who let themselves down with the quality of filler on their albums. By that I mean that there is a lot of crap on their albums in between the really strong singles. Whilst this makes for an excellent live band, it tends to lose a lot of followers in the long run. However, this album is very appealing to me and I can see myself listening to it for a while to come.
As an aside, what are people's opinions on them? I am sure there is a thread somewhere but... you know... CBA

The Courteeners released their 5th album, Mapping the Rendezvous, on October 21st 2016.
I am 'acquiring' it right now. Innit.
From the album....

Meh. Bang on average. Sadly, as expected.

Certainly better than their last effort IMO. Lucifers Dreams & The 17th are my favourites.
Went to see them last night, bar Liam's ropey voice it was very good.

Album has grown on me. Better than their most recent efforts.
Still not fulfilling their potential, though.

I recently listened to some of their b-sides from around 2014, and those seemed pretty good - better than most of their album tracks.
I really like St. Jude, would rate it as one of the best debuts of the decade, but everything after that is just off somehow...
