Oasis reforming has to make The Verve and RAs management think about getting the band back together. Maybe in 2026 once Oasis have had their time in the sun? I would love a new Verve album and tour.

No chance, there's no bigger ego in rock than Ashcroft. Even if he wanted to, not sure the others with their talents and humility would want to put up with him again. Never has such a fantastic band been so hamstrung by one mans egotistical idiocy.

Never has such a fantastic band been so hamstrung by one mans egotistical idiocy. Not even ego at this point. It's just pure, unadulterated delusion. His voice is unsalvageable and he plays the "greatest hits of 1995-2002" every show. As for the rest of the guys, Nick continues to release nothing consistently as Black Submarine unfortunately did not pan out. Si helps artists with recording studios and I believe Pete tours with The Charlatans? Just a sad state to what should have been one of the perennial British acts of not just the 90s but also the 2000s.

Did anyone notice this new addition to Discogs? A promo cd that was compiled in preparation for their 2004 best of. And even considering everything that has leaked since then, there's 3 or 4 tracks on here I had never heard of (Met Her at a Party, New in Town, Darkside etc.): www.discogs.com/de/release/23924921-The-Verve-Unreleased-

Says it was compiled in 2004, presumably during the 'This Is Music' compilation. Interesting to know Jalfrezi's real title is Heavy On My Mind. If this is legit, I wonder if those versions of Mover and Muhammad Ali (first name is misspelled on this disc) are the 1995 versions released on the Northern Soul 2016 reissue. Same for Shoeshine Girl and South Pacific on the Storm In Heaven set. So much of this band's material is unreleased and sitting in a drawer somewhere collecting dust at some recording office.

So now he's just a golden oldies act.

Sorry if this is a noob question, but does RA play Verve songs at his live shows? I'm new to him/The Verve (only heard Urban Hymns but love it). Aka, will his opening for Oasis likely be a lot of the 90s hits from UH, or recent solo stuff?

Sorry if this is a noob question, but does RA play Verve songs at his live shows? I'm new to him/The Verve (only heard Urban Hymns but love it). Aka, will his opening for Oasis likely be a lot of the 90s hits from UH, or recent solo stuff? Expect everything from Urban Hymns that isn't a full band composition "officially". So you'll get BSS, Sonnet, Drugs Don't Work, Space and Time, Lucky Man, and Velvet Morning. He never plays This Time live and that was always more an eclectic band production, same with Weeping Willow. He does play Willow occasionally but like most of his solo versions of these songs, they don't hold a candle to the full power of The Verve's rendition. One Day may get played and it's one of the few versions solo that I think works with just him. At this point in his solo catalog, he only performs his "hits". Expect Song For the Lovers, Music is Power and Break The Night With Colour. He'll also occasionally play On Your Own and History from A Northern Soul. The Urban Hymns numbers are a guarantee however. However just to prepare yourself, his voice is drastically aged and deeper than what you heard on UH. Also the live arrangements are much more generic, and he tends to drag the songs out beyond their original runtimes by several minutes in an incoherent jam for some reason, loves doing that to Sonnet which never works. Hope this helps.

All in the mind This is Music Blue Rather Be Slide Away Gravity Grave 6 O'clock BitterSweet Symphony Star Sail Butterfly
Also I wouldn't say it's one of my favourite songs but I listen to The Thaw Session a lot, they still had that magic.
I've never noticed how much I prefered the first album. The more they leaned towards britpop the less interesting they where for me (with some exceptions).

All In The Mind is underrated even by the hardcore fans. Whipping vortex of sound that uses the loud-quiet-loud formula.

I figured the latter, unless RA got the idea to do something fancy for ANS's 30th from DM. I've already got that box, dang it. Re-release the ASIH box!

Mixed feelings about the Verve TBH. On one hand I love some of their songs, on the other, they always depress me. Even on their “happier” songs like “this time”. Half of me likes them, half of me makes me not wanna play them. In fact I very rarely do. Oasis and the stone roses have an intensively positive vibe about them, the verve just don’t

This was posted on the Northern Souls forum...do with it what you will.... And yes, the site is legit. The official account posted about it a week ago: Whatever is happening, using Brian Cannon's She's A Superstar single neon sign makes me hopeful for new non-UH material.

So I'm confused. The singles album is being re-released (...meh). But the link takes me to Amazon rather than the soon-launching official band store. Do non-US residents get the same thing?

Originally released in November 2004, This is Music: The Singles, is a compilation album by English alternative rock band The Verve: Richard Ashcroft (vocals), Pete Salisbury (drums), Simon Jones (bass) and Nick McCabe (guitar).
2024 marks the 20th anniversary of the release of an album that has never been pressed on vinyl and, under the group’s direction, this long overdue reissue houses the powerful singles from the band’s 2008 reunion album, Forth - ‘Love Is Noise’ and ‘Rather Be’ – as well as including their second single ‘She’s A Superstar’ (1992) in its original, full-length, eight-and-a-half-minute form. As such, the album now represents the complete story of The Verve’s singles.
Tracklisting
LP1 Side A
This is Music Slide Away Lucky Man History LP1 Side B
She's A Superstar On Your Own Blue Sonnet LP2 Side C
All In The Mind The Drugs Don't Work Gravity Grave LP2 Side D

Edit, this tracklist is vinyl only. The CD has the old one with Monte Carlo and This Could Be My Moment Further taking a page out of the Ignition playbook, someone had to choose between Dusty Drawer #1 (unreleased studio tracks, live recordings, demos, etc.) or Dusty Drawer #2 (where all of the CD copies of "This is Music" went to die 20 years ago) and said "Fuck me, there's money to be made out of #2 for sure!"
