Scrolling through Discogs at all the singles available, remembering all the other b-sides I love that came around from SOTSOG onwards. Any idea why they've not put together another b-sides compilation? There was a ton of bsides post-Masterplan that get no representation anywhere, even on the Spotify B-sides playlist. With Masterplan back out on vinyl again, seems like that would be the next logical product they could easily scrape together, imho

While yes there would be fans that would buy them, they would be in the minority. And with the reissues I dont think there would be any demand for a B-sides compilation besides a couple ones. The Killers released Sawdust in 2007 with the previous available B-sides and reworked outtakes, remixes and a cover. But I havent seen any other bands done so since.

think this probably wouldve made more sense than time flies tbh, which while was probably done to release a tidy collection of singles from the entirety of oasis after they had split (and to cash in) however was mostly a waste of time seeing as stop the clocks was already eye released that did the job for a best of (I know it wasnt the exact same thing)
they couldve easily released a collection of post Masterplan B sides, maybe a couple of other bits and the shitty itunes gig.

Because it would be an album of offcuts of offcuts.
The Masterplan is fine as it is. (Although maybe get rid of The Swamp Song).
The only other b-sides probably worthy of inclusion are Let's All Make Believe (for definite) and maybe Flashbax, Round Are Way and Step Out.
The b-sides were generally poor after Morning Glory, and I can't imagine it would have sold well.

The Chasing the Sun remasters had all the b-sides from the 90s on the deluxe versions - that's definitely a good way to release b-sides (Blur did it for all their albums, and it was great). Problem is there probably won't be a SOTSOG or HC reissue any time soon.
A pseudo-album that omits b-sides from the pool it draws from would be terrible - the material isn't good enough, unlike the 90s stuff where The Masterplan is nearly as good as the actual albums. It would have to be a complete b-side collection.

With the digital era and free downloads, b-sides compilations are kind of pointless.
I know it's great to have a reference with all those rarities like TM was, but record companies aren't all that interested in releasing this kind of product nowadays.

In 1998 The Masterplan was needed for oversea markets like the US where import singles were a fortune! Sometimes more than buying a full fledge CD at $20. This was the golden age for record companies. $20 a CD? ?? Gimme a break.

Sawdust was better than everything the band have put out since. Love that album.

The b-sides were generally poor after Morning Glory... I don't agree. I actually think the BHN era has quite a few of the best B sides overall - Stay Young The Fame Going Nowhere I got the Fever Angel Child Flashbax My Sister Lover Those songs are as strong as anything from DM and WTS, particularly those first 4 tracks listed.

Still a crying shame "Round Are Way" didn't make The Masterplan.

I wouldn't say tracks like (I Got) The Fever and The Fame are good enough to be on WTSMG or DM. While I would never change the tracklist for either of those albums (and Be Here Now), the two tracks are great in their own right and fit for the Be Here Now era respectively. Let The Masterplan be the Masterplan - the songs chosen were good, and the album flows well. Only change I would make is adding Round Are Way as a 15th track sandwiched between Half the World Away and (It's Good) To Be Free - would pick up the pace very well after HTWA. Also, not axe Listen Up's solo - the repeats were fine on the original Cigs and Alc single version.

I wouldn't pick b-sides before SOTSOG as that was the selection for The Masterplan.
1) Let's all make believe 2) One Way Road 3) Carry Us All 4) Just Getting Older 5) Idler's Dream 6) Thank You For The Good Times 7) Shout It Out Loud 8) My Generation 9) You've Got The Heart Of A Star 10) Eyeball Tickler 11) Pass Me Down The Wine 12) Boy With The Blues 13) I Believe In All

Apart from Thank for the Good Times, HC era b-sides are all great, Idler's Dream is amazing, reminds me of Half the World Away, and funnily enough it seems that they are all better produced than HC itself.
