I still feel like Untitled would become For One So Young on that 1998 demo tape. This one was meant to be a full band performance. I like both but pretty evenly. What is actually on that 1998 demo tape? At a guess, Let's All Make Believe, Revolution Song and For One So Young? Didn't somebody on here who has heard FOSY say that 'Untitled' isn't the same though? There's a picture of the 1998 demo tape here on Mr Monobrow's site : monobrowdemos.wordpress.com/standing-on-the-shoulder-of-giants/joakim confirmed that Untitled is not the same song as For One So Young.

Fairly bang average tunes to be honest.
It's easy to see why they didn't make the cut. I'd imagine Noel has had shedloads of songs of this level that don't make the cut for albums or even B-sides.

I listened to all of disc 2 the other day and if we shadows is better than most of the b sides from that era.

Thank for clearing that up Jim. I hope one day we get to hear that tape, as the 98-99 years are quite interesting to me.

Thank for clearing that up Jim. I hope one day we get to hear that tape, as the 98-99 years are quite interesting to me. I'd love to hear the full tape. I find it a little surprising that For One So Young and the Full On demos never leaked at the same time as the rest of the songs back in early 2000. I guess both of them and Let's All Make Believe were pretty much limited to this cassette and Noels own reference copies. I'm the same as you, I find there is something about that time period. I guess it had something to do with Noel talking at the time about the change in direction that was coming for the album as evidenced with Gas Panic, Roll It Over and to an extent Go Let It Out and Fuckin' In The Bushes. After seeing that demo tape I do wonder if Noel had considered at some point at least to use Teotihuacan as an album track or a b-side. That would certainly have given the era even more of a darker theme than it had already.

Yeah why didn't Teotihuacan make th cut on the reissue? I think that song came out on the X-Files soundtrack towards the end of the Be Here Now tour. That's a full 2 years before SOTSOG hit the shelves. Dated a fuck by that point. Oh, yeah, and was officially released!

That would certainly have given the era even more of a darker theme than it had already. Quotes like this had me ALL FIRED UP in the early winter of 1999. “It starts with a drum loop and you’ll go, “That’s not Oasis.” It’s really short and catchy, it hasn’t got a guitar solo and there are no backing vocals. You know like in “Live Forever” there isn’t actually a chorus, just a little refrain? It’s like that, and there’s a sort of hole in the song where everything goes swirly and mental – backwards stuff from Camberwick Green, Windy Miller dialogue – and then there’s like a false key shift which kicks the song into a totally new gear.” – Noel Gallagher, Q Magazine, February 1999

You are also the guy banging on about an Oasis reunion since the day after Oasis broke up in summer 2009. Live in the now man.

I wonder whether he wrote them in case they decided to release a fourth single from the album and needed a couple more b-sides perhaps with Helter Skelter as another cover. I don't know how close they actually did come to releasing another single at the time.

I haven't listened to these songs in a while but I quite like If We Shadows but I can see why the song never made a proper album track at the time or a b.side even.

If memory serves me right, someone on this forum did a fantastic job at a full arrangement for if we shadows. Anybody know where I can find it now?

I’m surprised ‘If We Shadows’ was included in the ‘Be Here Now’ reissue and that Noel actually okayed its inclusion because it’s such a terrible song with an awkward melody. Should’ve stayed in the vaults.

Should’ve stayed in the vaults. I don't think it's that bad, that tarted up version above makes it sound no worse than some of the SOTSOG and HC era b-sides. They got a bit of stick about how little unheard stuff there actually was on the first two remaster so stuck these two on and I'm grateful they did.

Surely something better exists from those sessions that could’ve been included instead. I scratch my head thinking that Noel actually went ahead and green lit the release of this... in saying that, it’s not much worse than some of the stuff off his EPs last year.
