Now that a bit of time has passed since the release of the BHN reissue I thought I'd start a thread about the two unreleased songs.
When it was announced that the reissue would contain not one but TWO BRAND NEW OASIS SONGS I was totally pumped and was looking forward to hearing some unheard 90s Oasis magic. To be honest though they have disapointed me somewhat. I've been keeping an eye on the reissue thread and haven't seemed to read too much about them (positive or negative) so maybe other people feel the same and are keeping quiet?
I've listened to both of them at least a dozen times each now and to be completely honest I'd be lying if I said I genuinely enjoy them. I'd probably give them about a 6/10 each. Maybe they will grow on me more?
For me the Mustique demos have completely blown the two new songs out of the water. I'm playing Mustique on repeat in my car and have been since the release day!

I really like "Untitled" on disc 2. Shame this song never saw the light as a studio take, but you never know, maybe Noel release it years later like he did with Solve My Mystery.

The hook of 'If We Shadows' is quite good, but the song comes off as terribly unfinished.

Both are interesting only in that they could have been more than they are. In their current states, both are pretty uninteresting and you can see why Noel kept them in the vault.
It's become pretty clear that Noel's spark of creativity did not persist throughout the 90's and that he wrote the vast majority of songs on the first 3 albums before the release of DM. After BHN, it seems that he just ran out of good songs. Of course, I might be wrong about this, but If We Shadows and Untitled seem to help this argument if anything.

Its probably the first time i have ever heard two songs Noel has not released/not put on an album and thought yeah i can see why.

Like you say. The mustique demos are far more interesting. Not keen on the two new songs. I can see a good tune in Untitled...but I think it needs to be:
A) much faster paced. Maybe something in the vein of Morning Glory or Acquiesce. B) fees like it needed Liam on vox C) less acoustic. Needed some electricity in this
Obviously it's a rough demo...so can't say too much...who knows what he had in mind to be fair. But as it's delivered to us as is, I can't see listing to it much at all.

I'm surely in the minority here, but I don't think I'll listen to disc 3 very often, but it's nice to have. Disc 2, though, I fell in love with right away, mainly because of the acoustic Noel songs, including those two.

The Mustique Demos are bang average. So so dull with Noel's voice over them, sadly.

Here's two questions:
1. Why were both of these released in the reissue? What's the significance? Or were they just layabouts that Management threw in for shits and giggles?
2. Why can't he just title the fucking track. "Untitled". No. You title that shit. (Sorry, big pet peeve).

At this period I think both demos show a different side to Noel. The songs are more sophisticated melodically wise than anything off of Be Here Now. I doubt Noel wanted these songs on that album. Also I truly doubt Noel had Liam in mind to sing these songs.

I like the pair of them, prefer them over half of the Mustique demos to be honest. If We Shadows is my favourite of the two, I really enjoy the chorus

I think Untitled may actually be the name of the song, if you take the lyrics towards the end of the song it's quite an apt name. I like the two songs personally, I'd have thought they were worth polishing up a bit and using at some stage, possibly round SOTSOG time when he was on a bit of a downer.

I have thought about this the other day, maybe it's worth creating a thread: who is behind these reissues? Noel? or Ignition? What if Noel put the Mustique demos, and these 2 songs on there so he doesn't have anything to do anymore with Be Here Now in the future? That would explain why the Be Here Now reissue is much better than the other two.

If We Shadows has grown on me drastically. I downplayed it upon first listen.
Of course it's incomplete, but that hook and melody is so fucking strong: "If We Shadows Arrrrrreeee...."
And I'm convinced that If We Shadows was NOT meant for Liam. Liam couldn't sing If We Shadows, even in the 1990s. This is very much a Noel-sung tune.

They're catchy enough. Both wouldn't sound out of place on a HFB album, both could have been b-sides at the time but all the other b-sides in the 90s were better. If We Shadows reminds me of the Dying of the Light demo a lot - not a bad thing for sure. I still prefer untitled, but they're both fairly enjoyable. A little production could have made them decent 2000s album tracks or b-sides.

That would explain why the Be Here Now reissue is much better than the other two. What sense makes that? They put in the most effort into the Album Noel hates the most out of the first 3. Either because they thought it needs more work to be sold than the first 2 or they realised that the first 2 were a joke for that money. We got the whole Mustique thing now, we got 2 unknown songs, 3 unknown acoustic "demos", 1 intrumental which is still unknown , the full Stand By Me at the pool (or at least some mix of whatever they recorded back then), an Interview with Noel done extra for the Album, the re-think of DYKWIM including a "new" video for it. So all criticism aside because of the Trip Inside shit they did - they really put effort into this release. Hope they keep on doing that for whatever they release in the future. The only thing I miss is more Liam stuff because I´m a Liam fanboy and his voice was top at that time. And to stay on topic, Untitled is a great song even without Liam. If We Shadows the typical boring Noel on an acoustic guitar track in my opinion.

Not to start a Noel vs Liam war, but I can't help thinking both of them would fit perfectly on either Beady Eyes albums and they'd improve them too. Especially If We Shadows on BE

If we shadows for me is a hidden classic, really pleased we got this on the re issue.
Surprised this wasn't a B-Side.

I still feel like Untitled would become For One So Young on that 1998 demo tape. This one was meant to be a full band performance.
I like both but pretty evenly.

I like them, but can see why they were left off.
At the end of the day, they're rough demos - and were left as that for a reason.
It seems they were probably written in the studio - probably as B-sides - around late 96/early 97.
Like 'Slow', which I think ended up as a full-fledged recording - they were probably just chucked.

What is actually on that 1998 demo tape? At a guess, Let's All Make Believe, Revolution Song and For One So Young? Didn't somebody on here who has heard FOSY say that 'Untitled' isn't the same though?

If We Shadows properly produced would have made a nice bside.
The other one i'm not too keen of.
