Obviously, Be Here Now is fucking long. We all know this and some of us love it - some of us hate it. Of all of the songs, which do you think suffers MOST from it's length?
I think that Stand By Me could do with being a chorus or verse light, myself. Great song, lovely playing but it just goes on and fucking on.

Stand By Me, It's Gettin' Better (Man!!), and All Around the World are the only ones I'd edit in any meaningful way.

I love all the songs on Be Here Now. But Fade In-Out and Magic Pie I love the least of them. So I'd probably edit those down.

But all that really needs to go, is some of the excess noise. If in time, with technology improving, or further remasters/'rethinks' being approved, someone can find a way of getting rid of as much trebly guitar as possible, WITHOUT losing any of Noel's guitar breaks, the record wouldn't feel such a grind to get through.
Because after all, Oasis aren't the only band/artist to make an album with a runtime north of 70 minutes. The Cure have done it twice with much success; obviously The White Album was 90 minutes long; and The Clash made Sandinista!, coming in at 145 minutes. And then you've got all those hip-hop records RichDork do so love, quite a few of them going that way too. So making such a long album work is by no means an impossible task. You just need to offer up a bit more variation than if you were making a regular 40-50 minute record.
As Noel was never going to write songs as differing as, say, Yer Blues and I Wish, or Helter Skelter and Happiness Is A Warm Gun, he should've tried to vary the sound of the songs up a bit (more than just shoving an acoustic coda on the end of Don't Go Away, I mean - although, admittedly, that is lovely). Obviously, the fact it only wants to rock is part of Be Here Now's charm, but the way the loud bits were mixed, with all that fucking awful sibilance, does make it tough to get through sometimes. That's why I think Going Nowhere should've been on there somewhere. Then at least you'd have one song on there where you could actually hear the strings and horns and other things they'd bothered to go in and record...

I think you can hear the varying styles of tunes on the Mustique Demos really well. It could have been a much more varied album clearly. But, a las, it's not.

Stand By Me needs 2 minutes chopping off.
Ditto Magic Pie.
The first four songs on the album come to about 25 minutes FFS!

stand by me, all around the world is long but it still has reasoning that its building up throughout the whole thing.
stand by me is just long and doesnt need to be, the chorus isnt that amazing so its not really hooking me into it, it could be cut down and it wouldnt effect it at all.

Magic Pie definitely. It should fade out after the solo.

It suffered most in length to comparisons to 'Definitely Maybe' and '(What's The Story) Morning Glory?' with the music press in retrospect.... In all seriousness to answer the question definitely 'Magic Pie' which should have ended as headshrinker84 said after the solo, or preferably IMO not been on the record.

I don't get the hate for Magic Pie, Noel's guitar work is maybe his best on that song, I only wish the vocals sounded better.

Goes on too long for me, weak lyrics and a pointless end section- also regarding the lyrics I may have possibly mentioned this before but the fact they also lift from a Tony Blair speech made in 1996 also grates me

Maybe it's just me but I think after re listening to be here now fade in out and don't go away are spot on. I'm really enjoying them again. Was doing some shopping earlier and realised I was humming All Around The World, don't think I've done that since 1997! :-)

Definitely All Around The World. I like the song but it drags on way too long. It's getting better man could be shorter too I think.
