Definitely all of the post Britpop albums... its a close call between them.
GIANTS Definitely. We could have had a Liam Vocal on Sunday morning Call.
The Songs PYMWYMI, LJ, ICSAL Could have Been any one of LAMB, Revolution Song, Idlers Dream, Full On, Carry us All, Little by little, Force of Nature... Even Songbird was written during the Giants Sessions.
Yeah HC had fuck ups as well but 3 great tracks from HC were already available for Giants release date and two of them ended up as singles so...
GIANTS is the biggest f*ck up to me
It could have been a stunning underdog of an album. Instead its Half Stood in Dog Shit

SOTSOG 100%
It's the only post 90's album where the songs were there to be truly great but they/Noel chose it to use them,
All others after could have been tweaked to make them slightly better but SOTSOG with Let's All Make Believe, Idlers Dream and Its A Crime is a bona fide classic imo

@tjalke, you should delete this thread and re-do it with a poll. (I do love me some polls).
Tough One -
HC needs a complete overhaul. Fucking shit album.
SOTSOG and DOYS would have been top, classic albums with a few adjustments. So it's between those two.

BHN reissue disk 3. Appear to be Just some random demos that we haven't hear about and are of the same songs. Don't get why they are on there. Just sound the same but with Noel singing them.

Definitely Maybe: Axe: Shakermaker and Columbia Replace: Cloudburst and Fade Away
(What's The Story)Morning Glory?: Axe: Swamp Song snippet one Replace: Bonehead's Bank Holiday
Be Here Now: Axe: Magic Pie and Fade In/Out Replace: The Fame and Stay Young
Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants: Axe: Fuckin' In The Bushes Replace: Let's All Make Believe
Heathen Chemistry: Axe: Force Of Nature Replace: Just Gettin' Older
Don't Believe The Truth: Axe: Mucky Fingers, A Bell Will Ring and Love Like A Bomb Replace: Can Ya See It Now, Eyeball Tickler and Pass Me Down The Wine
Dig Out Your Soul: Axe: (Get Off Your)High Horse Lady, Ain't Got Nothin, Soldier On and Waiting For The Rapture Replace: Boy With The Blues, I Believe In All and Four Letter Word
So going off my list, Dig Out Your Soul has the worst tracklisting (as far as I am concerned)

If we're talking Oasis, DOYS was the worst tracklisting mess-up. The first eight tracks are some of the best and most consistent they ever did in the 2000s until the terrible twosome. If only they had finished Come on Outside and put it on, instead of Ain't Got Nothin', then closed the album with Boy With the Blues and Soldier On. That would've been perfect. SOTSOG is close, but a lot of the tracks that feel unfinished and rushed. Although, I do think that One Way Road being on instead of Little James and Let's All Make Believe being on instead of I Can See a Liar, with stripped down versions of Sunday Morning Call and Where Did it All Go Wrong?, would've made for a much better album than the official release we got. DM and MG is perfect, BHN only needed Stay Young instead of Magic Pie, HC should've been an EP, and DBTT is good but Eyeball Tickler instead of The Meaning of Soul and a Liam-sung Lord Don't Slow Me Down instead of A Bell Will Ring would've made that album better. Now going back to the first sentence, Beady Eye's two albums were the worst tracklisting choices I've seen on any Gallagher-related album. BE is probably the worst though since three of the era's best tracks (Evil Eye, Back After the Break, Off at the Next Exit) didn't even make the album.

Oh SOTSOG for sure. The band needed to prove Be Here Now was just a blip and seeing as it was the only step the band had put wrong so far there must have been some hope that the band could release something special, so when the band released something worse they only proved the naysayers right. Personally I think they came back at least a year to early and should have got someone like the Chemical Brothers to produce it.
I'm guessing Liam's shortening range twisted Noel's hand when it came to tracklisting choices (like much of the noughties - Heathen Chemistry is real bad in this regard) but here's my attempt.
SOTSOG 1) Fuckin' In The Bushes 2) Go Let It Out [Austin Powers Edit] 3) Force of Nature 4) Who Feels Love? 5) Put Yer Money Where Your Mouth Is 6) Revolution Song 7) Little By Little 8) Full On [Liam Sung*] 9) Teotihuacan [Album Edit] 10) Gas Panic! 11) Where Did It All Go Wrong? 12) Let's All Make Believe 13) Let There Be Love
*Only to balance out the Noel/Liam ratio. Doubt he could have in reality.
Would this had been enough to be seen as a return to form? Unlikely, however I'd have certainly prefered it to Be Here Now. Single wise I'm going with Little By Little, Go Let It Out and err... Gas Panic!, maybe? Force of Nature? Hmm...

As I wrote it in another thread :
1. Fuckin' In The Bushes 2. Go Let It Out 3. Who Feels Love 4. Full On (Liam vox) 5. Let's All Make Believe
6. Gas Panic ! 7. Little By Little 8. Where Did It All Go Wrong ? (promo) 9. Lock All The Doors 10. Roll It Over
I don't remember if it was possible but The Hindu Times instead of Full On would have been even better.

DM, WTSMG, BHN are all fine I reckon. Would've liked to have seen Strange Thing used as a b-side on one of the earlier singles tho (maybe Live Forever instead of the random live Supersonic track).
For SOTSOG I reckon.... 1) Fuckin In The Bushes 2) Go Let It Out 3) Who Feels Love 4) Full On 5) Little James 6) Gas Panic 7) Where Did It All Go Wrong? (Demo version) 8) Let's All Make Believe 9) Sunday Morning Call 10) I Can See A Liar 11) Roll It Over
I'd then replace LAMB on the b-side with Revolution Song as that was recorded by that stage anyway.
For HC.... 1) The Hindu Times 2) Shout It Out Loud 3) Hung In A Bad Place 4) Stop Crying Your Heart Out 5) Songbird (demo version) 6) Little By Little 7) Thank You For The Good Times 8) Probably All In The Mind 9) Born On A Different Cloud 10) Better Man 11) Idler's Dream
Wouldn't change DBTT at all. I'd have I Can See It Now and WPTWOTWOMS as proper b-sides tho replacing SHISOMO and the live track they used on the LTBL single.
For DOYS.... 1) Bag It Up 2) The Turning 3) Waiting For The Rapture 4) The Shock Of The Lightning 5) I'm Outta Time 6) Get Off Your High Horse Lady 7) Falling Down 8) The Boy With The Blues 9) To Be Where There's Life 10) The Nature Of Reality 11) Soldier On

If we're going with tracks that were recorded for each album (i.e. no Come On Outside w/ Liam on vocals), then I think this is the ultimate 'What If' Oasis album discography. Some people make SOTSOG include Carry Us All, One Way Road along with the other 2 Noel sung tracks, which just would've never happened or worked. Or they'll stick Shout it out loud on an album that includes Little By Little. Doesn't work as an album. Below are the best 'flowing' albums I think Oasis had the potential to make during each era. Thanks.
DEFINITELY MAYBE 1. Rock 'n' roll star 2. Supersonic 3. Live forever 4. Up in the sky 5. Columbia 6. Headshrinker 7. Bring it on down 8. Cigarettes & alcohol 9. Digsy's dinner 10. Slide away 11. Married with children
Singles, 1. Supersonic 2. Cigarettes & alcohol 3. Live forever 4. Slide away
MORNING GLORY 1. Hello 2. Roll with it 3. Wonderwall 4. The masterplan 5. Morning glory 6. (untitled) 7. Some might say 8. Cast no shadow 9. She's electric 10. Acquiesce 11. Don't look back in anger 12. Champagne supernova
Singles, 1. Some might say 2. Roll with it 3. Wonderwall 4. Don't look back in anger 5. Champagne supernova (released properly worldwide)
This would not look out of place in the top 5 albums of all time, IMO
BE HERE NOW 1. D'you know what I mean? 2. My big mouth 3. Stay young 4. Stand by me 5. I hope, I think, I know 6. Going nowhere 7. Fade in-out 8. Don't go away 9. (I got) the fever 10. All around the world 11. It's gettin' better (man!!)
Singles, 1. D'you know what I mean? 2. Don't go away 3. All around the world
This would improve a beloved album (on here) greatly, and I think it would have fared better with this tracklisting. None of the tracks could be called 'bad' like Magic Pie or the (imo) pointless Reprise
STANDING ON THE SHOULDERS OF GIANTS 1. Fuckin' in the bushes 2. Go let it out 3. Who feels love? 4. One way road 5. Little James (important track in future Liam contributions despite being shit) 6. Gas panic! 7. Where did it all go wrong (demo version) 8. Let's all make believe 9. Full on (Liam vox - if we're not allowed unheard tracks, then I Can See A Liar) 10. Roll it over
Singles, 1. Go let it out 2. Where did it all go wrong? 3. Let's all make believe
HEATHEN CHEMISTRY 1. The Hindu times 2. Hung in a bad place 3. Force of nature (demo version) 4. Stop crying your heart out 5. Songbird 6. Little by little 7. Thank you for the good times 8. (Probably) all in the mind 9. Idler's dream 10. Born on a different cloud
Singles, No changes
Still a fairly shit album, but saved somewhat
DON'T BELIEVE THE TRUTH 1. Turn up the sun 2. Lord don't slow me down 3. Lyla 4. Love like a bomb 5. The importance of being idle 6. Pass me down the wine 7. Guess God thinks I'm Abel 8. Part of the queue 9. Eyeball tickler 10. The meaning of soul 11. Can y'see it now? (I can see it now!)
Singles, 1. Lyla 2. The importance of being idle 3. Love like a bomb
DIG OUT YOUR SOUL 1. Bag it up 2. The turning 3. Waiting for the rapture (alt version) 4. The shock of the lightning 5. I'm outta time 6. (Get off your) high horse lady 7. Falling down 8. To be where there's life 9. I believe in all 10. The boy with the blues 11. Soldier on
Singles, No changes

Okay, I've got a dull Saturday. Read some "Pride & Prejudice", now there's no football, girlfriend is in the Netherlands, and it's too cold for tennis. So here's my fantasy Oasis career!!
DEFINITELY MAYBE (1994) 01) Rock 'n' Roll Star 02) Supersonic 03) Live Forever 04) Half the World Away 05) Columbia 06) Bring it on Down 07) Cigarettes & Alcohol 08) Listen Up 09) Slide Away 10) Married With Children 11) Whatever...
If you're gonna say Whatever wasn't available, then throw on Shakermaker at track two and Supersonic back to it's original place after Columbia. That'd still be pretty good, don't you think?. Singles:
#1: Supersonic #2: Live Forever #3: Whatever #4: Cigarettes & Alcohol #5: Rock 'n' Roll Star
(And again, sub Slide Away in for Whatever if you're gonna be all literal about the time-lines here. Loosen up!!)
(WHAT'S THE STORY) MORNING GLORY? (1995) 01) Hello 02) Roll With it 03) Wonderwall 04) Don't Look Back in Anger 05) Hey Now! 06) - 07) Some Might Say 08) Cast No Shadow 09) She's Electric 10) Morning Glory 11) - 12) Champagne Supernova
Perfect tracklist! Just trim "Hey Now!" down a bit. Make "Cast No Shadow" like the Maine Road version. Singles:
#1: Some Might Say #2: Don't Look Back in Anger (that'd beat Blur, ffs) #3: Wonderwall #4: Morning Glory + Roll With it #5: Champagne Supernova
BE HERE NOW (1997) 01) D'You Know What I Mean? 02) My Big Mouth 03) The Masterplan 04) Stand By Me 05) I Hope, I Think, I Know 06) The Girl in the Dirty Shirt 07) Stay Young 08) Fade In/Out 09) Be Here Now 10) Don't Go Away 11) Acquiesce 12) All Around the World 13) We're Getting Better (Man!!) 14) All Around the World (Reprise)
You madman! You've made Be Here Now longer!!! Au, contraire. With my trims of the songs (trims, not edits), this playlist comes it at one whole minute shorter than the original. But the average song length is considerably shorter, there's more variety, there's more singles, and it's just better all-around. It's still a big, mad, joyous album, though. Singles:
#1: Stand By Me #2: Don't Go Away #3: D'You Know What I Mean? #4: The Masterplan #5: All Around the World
One thing I would say is that, if you're willing to stretch the hypothetical, this album should have come out in 1996. Let it be the glorious last victory of the mid-nineties culture in Britain, and then finish on Knebworth in 1997 before the mood changed forever. That's stretching things a bit, though, so fair play if you're not having that one.
UNDERNEATH THE SKY (1998) 01) Underneath the Sky 02) Shakermaker 03) Magic Pie 04) Up in the Sky 05) Rockin' Chair 06) Talk Tonight 07) My Sister Lover 08) Digsy's Dinner 09) It's Good to Be Free 10) Headshrinker 11) Fade Away 12) Sad Song 13) Bonehead's Bank Holiday 14) Going Nowhere 15) I Got the Fever 16) Take Me Away 17) Round Are Way 18) D'Yer Wanna Be a Spaceman? (Bonus Tracks: Let Forever Be and Setting Sun)
Had to change the title, obvs. This should help with anyone going "You shouldn't change any of the tracklists, the amazing b-sides were all part of the magic!!". Like, this is still a pretty magical set of b-sides. This is still pretty good, you know?
STANDING ON THE SHOULDERS OF GIANTS (2002) 01) Fuckin' in the Bushes 02) Go Let it Out 03) Who Feels Love? 04) Little by Little 05) The Hindu Times 06) Gas Panic! 07) Idler's Dream 08) Let's All Make Believe 09) Where Did it All Go Wrong? 10) Stop Crying Your Heart Out 11) Roll it Over
This is the biggest shift, but so it should be; this was their biggest mis-step. They should have waited a long time after the nineties, let that memory settle and age well, and then come back only once they had the great new songs to go with the great new sound. All these tracks would've been sang by Liam (bar "Idler's Dream"), and "Hindu Times" and "WDIAGW" would be much more like the demo versions. "Little by Little" is faster, darker, heavier. It's a belter! Singles:
#1: Go Let it Out #2: Stop Crying Your Heart Out #3: Little by Little #4: Where Did it All Go Wrong? + The Hindu Times
DON'T BELIEVE THE TRUTH - EP (2005) 01) Turn up the Sun 02) Songbird 03) Lyla 04) The Importance of Being Idle 05) Part of the Queue 06) The Roller 07) Pass Me Down the Wine 08) Let there be Love
I just don't think there were the songs at this time for a good album. Group the acoustic-y tracks together and make a nice little EP. Produced by someone who is not Dave Sardy, and don't let anyone who looks like Dave Sardy with a fake moustache in through the door, either. You can add Eyeball Ticker, WPTWOTWOMS, and She is Love for an album, if you want. Singles:
#1: Lyla #2: The Importance of Being Idle
DIG OUT YOUR SOUL (2008) 01) Bag it Up 02) The Turning 03) Waiting for the Rapture 04) The Shock of the Lightning 05) I'm Outta Time 06) Come On Outside 07) Falling Down 08) To Be Where There's Life 09) Record Machine 10) The Boy With the Blues 11) Stop the Clocks
Again, NOT produced by Sardy. Get someone who can bring out the heaviness of the grooves. Liam sings all tracks. I'd have done a surprise release for this, I think, since it's not really a single-heavy album. Bring out "The Shock of the Lightning" one Friday, and then the next Friday, the album. Get the #1 single that it should have been, and move on for a good final tour.
It took me ages to decide between "Stop the Clocks" and "Soldier On". I'm fine with either. I like them both enough.
I just think their career should've ended with a song written by Noel and sang by Liam, though.
CHASING THE SUN: THE BEST OF OASIS (2009) 01) Supersonic 02) Don't Look Back in Anger 03) Stand By Me 04) She's Electric 05) Morning Glory 06) Go Let it Out 07) Roll With it 08) Falling Down 09) Gas Panic! 10) Cast No Shadow 11) The Masterplan 12) Don't Go Away 13) Little by Little 14) Half the World Away 15) Champagne Supernova
01) Some Might Say 02) Wonderwall 03) Live Forever 04) Stop Crying Your Heart Out 05) Whatever 06) The Shock of the Lightning 07) The Importance of Being Idle 08) D'You Know What I Mean? 09) The Hindu Times 10) Songbird 11) Whatever 12) Slide Away 13) Acquiesce 14) All Around the World 15) Rock 'n' Roll Star
And that's that! I wonder how it would have changed their perception. I think the nineties would be more-or-less the same: a golden age with a mad third album that wasn't quite the record for the time it came out in. The 2000's would be fascinating to know the difference, though; I think waiting a while for SOTSOG, and coming back with a single-studded record in a darker sound would have given their career a massive second-wind, and in all honesty, I don't think the later albums even happen in that timeline. More likely Noel enjoys the success that ambition would bring and keeps Oasis a more vibrant band in their second half.
Who knows? It was pretty good the way it was, still.

Dig out Your Soul. It's a cliche but it should have been their best album since BHN. It's killer up until Falling Down but then just completely shits the bed. I even like High Horse Lady but it should have been broken up into an interlude like the Swamp Song or Wednesday
Bag It Up The Turning Waiting For The Rapture The Shock Of The Lightning GOYHHL part1 I'm Outta Time Four Letter Word Come On Outside Falling Down GOYHHL pt2 To Be Where There's Life (The live version with guitars) Record Machine Stop The Clocks
That's a really great album there and a significant cut above every other post 1997 album. They had the songs, it's such a shame they botched the tracklisting of that album so badly. A couple more weeks in the studio and a few smarter choices could have led to a really strong last album. I know I can make that playlist on Spotify now, but Record Machine and Come On Outside needed Liams vocals and the album version of TBWTL sucks so that's why I'm salty about this album. It was okay but it should have been fucking great. Just seeing that list of songs and thinking about what could have been makes me sad.
