Columbia is definitely one of Oasis' best songs. Yeah, love that song live. The "come ons" at the end here are just mad

Does the DVD have any bonus features? Yes. A 27 minute 'making of' documentary, deleted scenes and photo gallery.

I know HMV have got an exclusive artwork for the DVD/Blu-Ray, but I don't know if it's the only exclusive thing they have to offer.

Watched it yesterday and today, still really great. Make sure you have a good pair of headphones or good speaker set.

Here's hoping somebody uploads that bonus content online somewhere. I understand your point of view but from a HMV perspective it's not a bad idea along with rest of their rebuild having nearly followed Our Price, Virgin, etc. into oblivion. A unique content deal is more likely to drive up sales through their channels than any "2 for 1" or discounted CD's ever will in this day and age, so I can't say I blame them for trying to develop their business model to stay afloat.

What a rollercoaster of a film! I know that most of y'all have already seen this, and probably don't care for the thoughts of a Yank who saw it three weeks after everyone else saw it, but anyway, here goes! So I had dinner with a friend before going to see it (she couldn't come, unfortunately), and I casually brought it up in conversation, and she thought that there was going to be just me and five others. Ha ha. She's got a sense of humor, but I was afraid that she was gonna be right.... Anyway, I stayed in the restaurant a bit too long and had to run out of there because I was afraid that I gonna miss my train! So I started running at top speed toward the station, down the street like a maniac. Yeah, I got a few stares. BUT NOBODY GETS IN THE WAY BETWEEN ME AND MY OASIS!!!!! Ran down and up the escalators, down the streets, and I ended up having fifteen minutes to spare. Yeah, I think my watch is ahead....... Anyway, when I got there, into the theater, they were playing Oasis songs, which was the coolest thing ever, because 1. I hardly ever hear Oasis in public. 2. the songs they played were Stop Crying Your Heart Out, Going Nowhere, Gas Panic, and Where Did It All Go Wrong. First and probably the last time I'll ever hear them in public! And I started singing along, first quietly, but then gradually increasing in volume. In fact, the chick who was sitting two seat to the left of me got up and sat in a different row. Maybe I was singing a bit too loud....? Nah, you can never sing Oasis LOUD ENOUGH!!! There were about 60-70 people there, which was many more than I or my friend expected! Most of them were whites in their late 20's too early 30's, some by themselves, some couples on dates, and one or two groups of mates. Lots of people wearing Oasis shirts. Though they weren't especially talkative, so I didn't find out if anyone from the forum was there, but I bet there were at least a few. Anyway, the film! We diehards already know the whole story anyway, so nothing new there. But, despite being on a forum dedicated to Oasis, and having posted over 3,000 times, I'm still not familiar with the vast majority of the Oasis film footage out there. I don't really listen to bootlegs either. So a lot of it was new to me! However, I did recognize pretty much every shot of the band because everyone here uses them as their avatars! And it was great being able to recognize EVERY SINGLE SONG (well, save that Inspiral Carpets song, because I've never listened to their music) that was used in the film. It certainly was amazing to hear all of those songs played at full volume in a theater, even if they were just snippets in most cases. Pretty awesome to hear But What If, Life in Vain, Take Me, and See the Sun in the background too! I wonder how many others in the theater recognized them? Funny thing, Cigarettes and Alcohol from Monnow Valley sounded just as immense as the album version, so I'm not really that sure why they scrapped those recordings? Maybe it's my fanboy bias. And the Sad Song with Liam singing pretty much took me by surprise, at least by where it was placed in the film, cuz some members on here already ruined the surprise for me. More on that later.... And, to my surprise, I could have sworn that I heard some background music that sounded really fucking similar to the fake 3:35 Trip Inside!!!!! So, did management, upon hearing that they couldn't use the real demo on the BHN reissue, stick a song from the Supersonic soundtrack on there instead? What a bunch of cheeky c unts! To be perfectly honest with you, because I'm a goddamn American, for pretty much the entire film I had to concentrate really hard to understand what anyone was saying haha!! I wondered before the film if they were gonna subtitle the entire thing for us Americans? But Noel and Liam's endless stream of one-liners had the entire theater in peals of laughter nearly every time. It was brilliant. I sang along to every song, hopefully not that loud haha. And by the end, when all of a sudden The Masterplan came in and started playing, I swore I was on the verge of tears. Fuck you Oasis, for being so goddamn awesome! And everyone applauded at the end. It was fucking marvelous. But anyway, on the existence of Sad Song Liam vox.... First, they need to release this fucker ASAP, it sounded gorgeous and better than the Noel version we've had for decades. Second, I'm sure that joakim or davidjay or asimarx have already analyzed the shit out of what recording session it could've come from, but I'm gonna attempt my own analysis! Wasn't it rush-written and recorded specifically so they could have a bonus track for the vinyl version of DM? In that case, when would Liam have had a chance to try a vocal for it? Maybe during the Whatever or Rockfield sessions? Cuz I can't imagine him ever taking a crack at it any other time, unless it's from a band rehearsal for the DM tour, since didn't they play an incomplete electric version of D'Yer Wanna Be a Spaceman with Liam singing at a gig once? Wouldn't be a stretch of the imagination for them to have tried that one in rehearsals. Yet the vocal sounded a bit too good for a rehearsal... Then again, his voice was truly biblical during this period. Dk, I'll read thru the rest of the thread when I'm not really tired and probably find the answer. And on that note, that's the end of my fangirling, hope everyone else enjoyed it as much as I did. DVD will be on my Christmas wishlist. Thanks. EDIT: Oh, and a few gripes (cuz you can't satisfy everyone): - Very little BHN. I mean, I understand why it was cut, but just why??? Why did they cut out my favorite era of Oasis? Hopefully there's a bit on BHN on the DVD release.
- Fuckin' in the Bushes. I mean, I still love this song to death (for the longest time it was my favorite song from the 00's), but it was quite anachronistic to hear it in a documentary on the 90's.
- Overdubbing album takes onto live footage. I mean, Oasis was never the greatest live band, but it was quite apparent (at least to me) that they used the album versions.
- No Real People? Are they trying to rewrite history?
- Not enough BHN.
- Not enough BHN.

That's a real shame. How frequent was it? It's puzzling because Oasis were at their live peak in that era. Also, the thing about the Real People is too bad as well as ignoring the Blur/Oasis chart battle and other revisionist history that I've heard is in the film (ie. various stuff getting left out like the riot at that one '94 gig). Maybe it has something to do with Noel and Liam being executive producers on the project and having a bit TOO much control over what made it into the final cut.

Worst offender was when they played the album version of Some Might Say over the TOTP performance with Tony and the one with Alan. I was like "it's still the same fucking drummer playing you bastards!!!!!!!" The only ones I can remember that weren't overdubbed were the Maine Road and Knebworth performances. There were probably others that were left intact but I can't remember them.

"NOBODY GETS IN THE WAY BETWEEN ME AND MY OASIS!!!!!" That's the quote of most of us on here. Personally I think BHN deserves to have it's own story and it has own history. Did you feel the floor shaking when the intro from Columbia hits the screen? I DID!
