Went to Supersonic yesterday. Am I mistaken about a Liam sung Sad Song somewhere halfway? I was in doubt when hearing it...

Why didn't the girl Noel dedicated Talk Tonight to step forward, or at least let Noel know that she was doing alright? Surely she must have been aware of Noel's later, even bigger success?
Unless she died, which I hope not...

Not necessarily if she missed it in SF when Oasis had their mid-nineties peak in the USA, or perhaps she had personal reasons for not wanting that story to come out? Who knows, not everyone chases fame...

Who knows, not everyone chases fame... My guess is also that she didn't want to get caught up in it like you said. On the other hand, a anonymously written letter would've sufficed... So, thank you unknown person. Talk Tonight is a proper tune...

Also quite curious if there's more footage of the "behind the scenes" of the Top Of The Pops performance of Some Might Say. That was pretty funny stuff...and Rockfield Studios...

Apologies if you've already seen this. A review of Supersonic by Mark Kermode from BBC 5 Live

Went to the cinema for the 3th time here in Mexico and as someone said, Guigsy and Alan are removed digitally from many parts of the live footage. The most clear is Alan from Letterman.

Did everyone notice the "where's everyone gone" from the footage of Noel in the studio during the MG sessions is the same as the Don't Go Away (demo) on the BHN reissue? So Don't Go Away was basically a fully formed song in early'95?? Wondering if it was originally slated to be on MG as it seems like a Liam-sung demo from the time might also exist.

Most likely they just took that snippet and added it to the film. The DGA (demo) is from a soundcheck in Japan 1994. But why they didn't mention or show John Squire playing Champagne Supernova at Knebworth? Something to do with the legal stuff? Couldn't hear his guitar either!

They just showed Noel. I suppose they didn't want to bother explaining who the random extra guitarist was.

I doubt unless John was being particularly funny about it that it was anything legal, it's probably more as His Royal Noelness says that it would have perhaps needed a diversion to explain who he was especially to non-UK fans who might not be that familiar with The Stone Roses

When I watched it I thought it was for the same reason they didn't talk about the Oasis vs Blur thing; i.e. because it was a documentary about Oasis so they didn't really want to mention other bands.

Just when the clip started I said to my friend "the other guitarist is John Squire from Stone Roses" and then they didn't show him at all...

Regarding the Liam-sung version of Sad Song heard in the film. It's previously been said that Noel wrote this song pretty much 'on demand', to fill the gap created by cutting the vinyl edition of Definitely Maybe over two discs rather than one. (Noel Gallagher on the origins of Sad Song, quoted in a 1994 interview for NME reprinted in the NME Oasis 1991 – 2009 Collectors' edition magazine, p. 11).
Sad Song received its public debut on BBC Radio 1's Evening Session on 7th June 1994, and the final studio version was recorded and mixed by Owen Morris at the Windings studio, on 22nd June 1994 (Source: Melody Maker, edn. published 1st October 1994) But Paolo Hewitt's book Getting High seems to indicate that the song existed before all this. In Chapter 12 he notes that in August 1993 Noel and Marcus Russell travelled to New York to inspect various record companies. "At a meeting with a major A&R man, who shall remain nameless, they played him 'Digsy's Dinner, 'Sad Song', and 'Live Forever.'" (Hewitt, p. 206). I wonder if the version of Sad Song they played him was this mystery demo with Liam on vocals? The band might have recorded that as a basic 8-track demo in early '93 (around the same time as Married With Children perhaps), then thought of re-recording it on 24-track when they found themselves a track short for the vinyl edition of Definitely Maybe. Just a bit of speculation on my part...

Anybody got an idea where Liam's "shoe throwing"-comment was cut from within the footage of the gig at Cliffs Pavilion '95 (Live By The Sea)?

I really love Live by the Sea, such a great setlist! Columbia, Digsy's Dinner, Some Might Say, Headshrinker, Slide Away and Spaceman. I prefer it above There and Then because it's the whole gig instead of a mix between 3 gigs. You can see the anger in Noel's eyes when he looked at Tony at the start of Acquiesce.

The energy during that gig is really something incredible. I agree it being even better than ...There and Then.

Unless she died, which I hope not... I know for a fact that she is very aware of what Noel went on to become, and that she is the inspiration for that song (Talk Tonight). She has a family and a different life now, as does Noel. I will consider asking if she would be up for a short interview, but it's one of these things where I guess what happened between them all these years ago is somewhat of a brief but beautiful moment in the life of two people, and I'm not sure if exposure is of any good, or if the story might be best left as is. Noel seems to tell the anecdote in his typical style, not surprisingly. Give me some time and I'll let you know if this is something to revisit in an article or some form. Have thought about it before, but it needs to be done right. I'm off to see 'Supersonic' in cinema again tonight. Can't wait!!

She wrote a letter to Mojo in response to Tim Abbott's comments about the episode in an article about the making of WTSMG in 2005 (May or June edition for the main article, the letter was in the following month's letters I think).
