Listening to this podcast again as I type. James was talking about Manics. A Design For Life was the first record he got when he was 12 and playing as support act for Manics in their home town brought him tears in his eyes. (I hope I don't misunderstand it as his accent is so hard to understand sometimes, but I love it)

I'll have to give this a spin, it's fascinating to hear how other songs help inspire artists to the music they make. The usual suspects on there for James, but interesting to see God Only Knows in there.

This podcast is quite long (1,5 hour), only James and the female presenter were talking about the music he got influenced from. In the end he mentioned Noel's comment that people do pay 3 or 4 Pounds for coffee, but don't care to spend 5, 6 Pounds to buy a record "it's sad, very very sad" and it's very true.

Going into a record store is like a sweetshop. I don't know whether people are being brainwashed into buying needless tat as it is seen as 'socially respectable', but it's amazing that you can be the only one in a record store making that incredibly difficult decision as to what to buy. It's sad nobody else is like that these days, and outside this forum, I don't think people would understand that endless fascination it provides.

Saw Sads for the 5th time on Monday (supporting The Cure). James became such a brilliant performer now. I've been listening to them since their debut album in 2007. Great great great band. This isn't my video, but here's the opening song:

James just before they started to play the last song (And She Would Darken The Memory) of the night past Sunday:
"Thank you very much for watching our band. We're called The Twilight Sad from Glasgow, Scotland", then everybody cheering. James got a bit emotional "Aa fuckin' man, so many...and we want to thank you The Cure for having us to support them on tour, to be on the stage. That's a very special feeling, so thank you from all of us for coming early to being a part of us, so thank you to The Cure. Have a good night. This is the last song. Cheers to every single one of you. Thank you very very much"
Thank you Sads. You were fantastic as always. I'm sure you got/and will get more and more fans since you've been supporting The Cure on their world tour, but please don't change and keep creating beautiful miserable music. Really looking forward to see you again.

I apologise if I annoy many of you by bumping this thread of mine.
Sads playing "The Wrong Car" as the last song in Paris last week.
Don't dare to say they're not amazing.
