As we approach the 15th Anniversary of 9/11, it's hard not to conclude that we've come full circle.

Couldn't you have, y'know, waited another nine days until the actual anniversary?

A record-high 54 percent of American voters feel the U.S. is less safe today than it was before 9/11, according to the latest Fox News national poll. Voters also think: - A major terrorist attack is likely in the near future. - Last year’s U.S.-Iran agreement on Iran’s nuclear program made the U.S. less safe. - The $400 million the U.S. paid Iran after American prisoners were released was ransom. - Terrorism is one of the most important issues facing the country. Here are the details behind those findings: Most voters, 80 percent, think it’s at least somewhat likely a major attack “causing large numbers of American lives to be lost” will happen in the near future. Moreover, 37 percent feel it’s “very likely” an attack will happen soon. While that’s down from the high of 43 percent in 2007, it’s up from 24 percent who felt that way in 2011 (the last time this question was asked on a Fox News Poll). Some 54 percent think the United States is less safe now than before the September 11 attacks. Thirty-nine percent say the country is safer. Last year, it was 53-38 percent (March 2015). This is a fairly recent shift. Prior to September 2014, more voters than not said the country was safer. www.foxnews.com/politics/2016/09/01/fox-news-poll-voters-say-us-less-safe-than-before-911-iran-deal-hurt-security.html

Social media almost makes me feel too close to the action. Not going to sleep very well tonight. Such horrible, scary times we live in. We're actually living in the most peaceful and safest time ever, actually. Just saying.

We're actually living in the most peaceful and safest time ever, actually. Just saying. We are living in the safest times, as far as full out wars are concerned. A terrorist attack similar to 9/11, while tragic would not change that. I'll continue to say it: George W. Bush really eliminated the terrorists' ability to strike us and made us safer in that regard. (Seriously, when was the last time Al-Qaeda was relevant?). Obama continued most of GWB's foreign policy, but the things he changed made us less safe (like pulling out of Iraq which essentially led to ISIS). You just know that ISIS is fairly close to pulling off something in either the US and/or UK. And while I acknowledge you can't keep us safe 100% of the time and that something will always be inevitable, it just feels eerily similar to a pre-9/11 mentally. About 9/11, we say "Never forget", but sadly I think far too many Americans have forgotten 1.5 decades on.

Isis exists today because of GWB's invasion of Iraq and destabilising and destroying their country and region.

Please take a look at any video of the collapse of the towers and note the debris falling faster than the collapse. The debris is in free fall. The towers did not fall at free fall speeds.

About 9/11, we say "Never forget", but sadly I think far too many Americans have forgotten 1.5 decades on. Your fear is a bit ungrounded, but I understand the concern. After seeing so many attacks in France, Turkey, etc, you can't help but wonder if we're next. Reasonably though, I think that it's unlikely that Britain or the U.S. will be attacked soon. Remember that Daesh does not plan attacks overseas in the same way that al-Qaeda did. Even those responsible for the Paris attacks weren't taking orders from a chain of command. Also, keep in mind that both the U.S. and Britain have improved national security since 9/11, and the biggest threat to us now, terrorism-wise, is ordinary people with no prior criminal record suddenly transformed into mass murderers, not agents of a larger organization. Daesh doesn't have the capability of pulling off an attack as coordinated as 9/11, and they know they can't. If anything happens, it will probably be similar to Paris, which is terrible enough, but the odds of anything on the scale of 9/11 are very low.

I once believed in all the 9/11 conspiracy theories when I was 13. Thankfully, I've grown up since then.

I once believed in all the 9/11 conspiracy theories when I was 13. Thankfully, I've grown up since then. Yeah. People gotta stop. Two cross country jets were flown into two giant towers at speeds of 500+ mph filled to the brim with jet fuel. That is going to compromise the integrity of any building structure. They don't do scientific tests for that sort of colossal damage/impact. This was a global tragedy.

Much of the conspiracy theorists are borne out of a passionate hatred for America, or alternatively go to the other argument which shamelessly offers an apologist take on the terrorist's 'reasons' (without any knowledge or consideration of the primary host and facilitator of such religious fanaticism).

people dont realise the amount of people it would require to pull off such a conspiracy to the point it would be totally impossible to pull off without someone talking about it or finding out about it.

I remember when I first clicked on this thread, I thought it was a commemoration of the people who were murdered in this terrible tragedy. Instead, it was an expression of panic that another attack would occur based on a Fox News poll of people's "feelings". Now, it's been hijacked by conspiracy theories.
Let's do better for the 16th anniversary, shall we?

There a some people talking about it but nobody takes it's seriously. I understand that many people say it's stupid, but there are some really strange things about these attacks.
