Where did this thread go wrong? You've been on this forum for a while now right? This is just business as usual :-)

I predict that Liam will keep on making funny comments, exude confidence, and give great interviews until the album comes out and it sounds exactly like Different Gear, Still Speeding. Nothing LG has said in interviews indicates he has changed his approach at all.

Contact Music based on the recent Q Magazine interview claim it is entirely Liam with no collaborations- Contact MusicThe Sun claimed Johnny McDaid of Snow Patrol and Brendon Benson without (unsurprisingly) naming any sources- The Sun
Exclaim! claim he is working with two unnamed musicians- ExclaimSo as ever mixed reports and nothing concrete as yet as far as I am aware.

Duly noted with apologies chief I think regards the other thread it is just that- other musicians interacting or liking his social media output leading to people putting two and two together. Whether or not that adds up to four remains to be seen in this case...

Yates's: the only place i've ever been where even I thought it was a bit iffy... Great if you're looking to pull a lady with upper arms bigger than your thighs though.

The only rumour I took seriously is the Pete Yorn collaboration, as he he seems the most realistic choice of theese candidates. He is a person that is moving in Dave Siteks orbit, is a multi instrumentalist and there have been also reports and cryptic tweets by Liam, that he has been to LA earlier this year. Theese rumours also indeed stem from Yorn, liking and interacting with the "paper crown" tweet... It's pure speculation of course. I believe it means, that he is not working with a band or will be sharing credits. The multi instrumentalist he is working with shall remain nameless. But someone has got to play on theese tracks.

What I really want to see on this new record is real musicianship.
Real artistically and musically interesting collaborators that would secure Liam's LP would be :
N0. 1: Johnny Greenwood // he could easily put an interesting orchestral or instrumental piece on a generic Liam song and turn into something else N0 2: Warren Ellis // his violin and flute improvisations could give the tamer and quieter songs a more profound and relaxing tone on the more Lennonesque accusatory "Working Class Hero" songs
N0 3: a young and funky drummer ( a modern "Reni" Wren ) // imagine a song like "The World is Not Set in Stone" in a much faster and funkier style
N0 4: Flea // Generally the bass is an instrument that had no prominence in Oasis or Beady Eye songs either. While trademark songs like TBWTL could actually be considered groovy.
Listen to "To Be Where There is Life" on 1,25 speed it sounds rad!

It's a shame that when Oasis broke up Noel got custody of the friendship with Johnny Marr. A Liam sung and written track with Johnny's guitar work to spice it up could be great. I'm afraid Liam will try to avoid big names collaborating with him, mostly out of pride.

A revisit to the sound of Scorpio Rising would be most welcome. That song put his vocals front and center and was perfect for showcasing them. It also has a slighty trippy vibe which we know he loves, but not in a Beatles-pastiche way. Some of Ashcroft's early solo work - Check the Meaning for example, would be a good influence. Alternatively, I'd like to see some stomping rock - Liam's vocals over an album of songs like the ones on BRMC's Baby 81 or Spectre at the Feast would be epic. Not sure if he could write rockers that good himself though... I just read this comment and it was exactly what I was thinking. I remember looking at the footage of him recording with the death in vegas and liam was on point. Those guys just seemed to guide him and he just nailed the vocals. I also really enjoyed the cover track he did with steve Cradock. Anything along those lines and a few tracks heavy with guitars would make a great solo album.

Not sure if he could write rockers that good himself though... This is interesting, for I have thought the same for years. Every time I listen to Baby 81, I imagine that those songs, particularly "Berlin", "Cold Wind", and "Lien on Your Dreams," suit Liam perfectly.

first time poster here, so Hope you guys don't mind me adding few cents on Liam's sound.
I have given this some thought and I keep coming back to Dennis Wilson.
This song, River Song, has a earthy earnest soul vibe to it that Liam also nailed on boy with the blues.
Again, the narrative fits, so it might be a bias of mine (both overshadowed by more talented siblings), however there is, for me, a soul vibe I get from Liam (in terms of lyrics, and delivery).
So Dennis Wilson esque (with Sitek pushing some cali americana, gospel stax production)
