I would release a compilation of songs that he has song writing credits on in his back catalog. He has a pretty solid library of songs when you take a look at the body of work as a songwriter. It is funny because I have come on here for years with a lot of you dolts slagging him off but Oasis would be a gelding without his verve. Noel was the heart and Liam was the balls in the band. Noel's band would be more appropriately named Noel Gallagher's High Flying Geldings.
Here are 12 songs that I think the collection should include.
- Boy With the Blues (A Song seemingly Noel tried to suffocate because of his short mans syndrome I would add in the liner notes. Probably the closing number)
- Either/Or - Love Like Like a Bomb and Guess God Thinks I'm Abel
- Born On a Different Cloud
- I'm Outta Time
- Start Anew (which would be the perfect opening track)
- Flick of the Finger (Another one that Noel buried in the crib while in Oasis)
- Love Me & Leave Me (With Liam vocals on a "new" track. Always wanted to hear Liam sing this number he co-wrote with Squire)
- Morning Son
- Pass Me Down the Wine
- Songbird
- I Believe In All
- The Roller
____
Liam should be applauded for not taking the easy route and trying to make it on new songs and not past glories like Noel did by leaning on his Oasis work from the time he embarked on his solo career. As it was Noel who, indeed, quit the band, Liam could have easily ripped off the name and toured for years to come with whomever he chose to play alongside with. Instead he chose the harder path of doing his own thing. I think that is commendable and I think his Q Magazine piece was spot on in all respects. The legend is back and will get the last laugh when all is said and done.

Hell no I'm not joking. Born on a Different Cloud has more soul than Noel every imagined possible. Flick of the Finger is more rock n roll than Noel could ever dream. All you people reading his press clippings believing every word your "GOD" puts out there has brainwashed you. Liam's solo album is going to shit all over Noel's. That is why Liam said Noel is probably shitting himself at the thought of the solo album coming out. Because he is. Gem and Andy were holding the legend down. Don't ya get it.

I would say the OP is Liam himself, but he wrote to many stops and comas.
However got to agree with the Boy with the Blues, specially if you consider a rubbish like "get of your high horse lady" made it into the album

Liam is a fucking boss and now that we have a confirmed Liam Gallagher solo album, I couldn't really care much about what Noel is doing.. But one question, did Noel really hide flick of the finger and boy with the blues because he wanted his songs to stand out not Liam's? Surely that's not true but if it is what a first grade douchbag

You had me with the idea of doing a packaged compilation of songs he's penned, but you lost me after ripping on Noel.
Playpen...

People forget Noel did write Bring It On Down, Rock'n'Roll Star, D'You Know What I Mean?, Headshrinker, My Big Mouth, etc.
Sure, Liam gave the life to these tunes but saying Noel never wrote anything more rock'n'roll than Flick of the Finger is just pure trolling.

I think he needs to rebuild wider public interest with a good solo album at least first, making his name as a solo artist before anyone in Big Brother/Sony Music marketing with any common sense would even considered putting together a compilation of songs Liam has previously released with BE and Oasis.
Compilations are an odd thing to predict without surefire hit singles from ages past at the best of times, so I can't see why anyone in management would want to focus any effort at this point on the kind you are suggesting and b) Warner Bros. Records I guarantee would not be best pleased given they own none of the rights to those songs and it would in their view (rightly or wrongly) be competing with a debut solo album they are putting effort and money behind.
