Yeah, sure, let's take off their most famous single, the one they're known for, the one all starting guitar players get inspired by, the one that sparked various memes, the one everyone, whether you're a fan or not, knows the lyrics to. The one that's probably one of the main reasons WTSMG sold as much as it did. Yeah let's do that. Roll with it and Wonderwall are rubbish. Swap them out for Acquiesce and Rocking Chair and that album would unquestionably be the best of all time.. DOYS is the third best Oasis album. Heathen Chemistry is the worst and Hindu Times is by far the band's worst single Love Like a Bomb is dreadful. So is Songbird. And Evil Eye (those lyrics are appalling!). In fact the only half decent Liam Gallagher songs are Little James and I'm Out of Time and even that suffers from the Lennon sample. Gem should have been made to play bar chords like Bonehead did. Their live sound got shit as they became more polished and his Don't Look Back in Anger solo was poor. Bonehead WAS Oasis. Any reunion needs that man in the band. That said, a reunion is an awful idea. The only person in the world who needs it is Liam. I can't tell if you're trolling or being serious here. That said, you nailed the concept of this thread. Without the band's gang image, the sibling rivalry and the contrasting voices of Liam and Noel I doubt he would have had the kind of success Oasis experienced within two years of putting out their debut single- 11th April 1994 Supersonic is released and charts at #31, 27th/28th April 1996 Oasis play two sold out nights at their childhood football club stadium of Maine Road. I can't say 100% that Noel wouldn't have achieved this but without the chemistry, tension and wit created between the brothers as well as other band members I doubt he would have seen his songs connect on the scale they did. |

That it inspired a generation of talentless bucket-hatted buskers to pick up a guitar and bore everyone at barbecues doesn't mean it's any good. Roll With deserved to beat Country House in the Britpop battle but only because the latter is absolutely hideous. Both Rocking Chair and Acquiesce should have been on that album, which had already sold a packet before Wonderwall had even been released as a single. I couldn't even remotely give a shit that it's the only song that Americans recognise because I'm English and most of the people I know can't ducking stand the tune anymore. It's overplayed and horribly cliched. And the band's dynamics suffered as soon as Gem and Andy joined. A decent pro and better technically he may be but Gem's presence and energy was nothing compared to Bonehead's. Noel's solos were brilliant when he was the main man and they suffered both live and in the studio because he let Gem do it all instead. Also, to me, the death of the Oasis sound I grew up with was the introduction of and increased use of the capo. |

It's often a way to hide your vocal abilities. (I did it when I started playing guitar so I could sing the songs easier). |

I get where you're coming from (and the quote is brilliant) but my favourite note on the guitar is a low E, of which there were bucket loads on Definitely Maybe and Morning Glory. Imagine Cigs and Alcohol with a capo - it would sound shit. |
