I couldn't find an older thread for this track so started a new one.
I'm listening to Chasing Yesterday again this morning and I can easily say this is one of the best Noel solo songs, its a crime that this isn't hasn't been put out as a single AND isn't being played live.
I'd put this in the top 20 list of post 90s Noel tunes, along with BOTMI, AOTR, EOTR, IIHAG, TDOYAM, WAL.
We really have been spoilt with Noels solo material, roll on album #3.

It is the best song on Chasing Yesterday, imo. It has got the best lyrics on the album and probably one of the most sincere song Noel has written in years, with Alone On The Rope.
Love the fact it's about Manchester, love the melancholic feel of it. Probably in my top 3 NGHFB.

My Favoirite tune from CY. I Completley agree.
I have a thing for dreamy, melancholy tunes with a Wierd but aggressive skippy drum beat. Very similar feel to falling down, and Part of the queue

It could well be the best song he's written since Falling Down. Majestic tune.

Second favourite of Chasing Yesterday (Ballad Of The Mighty I being my favourite). Good lyrics, which, face it, you can't say about all of Noel's material and musically it's interesting enough.

I didn't like it at first, then it grew and now it's one of my faves I love the meaning and concept behind it

This is 'Part Of The Queue' light.
It's a fine track, but I think there is a lot of hyperbole being thrown around in here.

It's a wonderful tune, but only my 5th favourite from CY. But hey, I've been told repeatedly by members of this forum that my music taste is questionable, so...

Besides the crazy Led Zeppelin-ish title, I really enjoy the track. Was disappointed Noel didn't play it in NYC last month. Cool atmosphere in this tune with nice lyrics.
"We can dance beneath the fireflies on an empty road."

This is 'Part Of The Queue' light. It's a fine track, but I think there is a lot of hyperbole being thrown around in here. I really, really like Part of the Queue and I do see some similarities with While the Song... same melancholic mood, same lyrical themes. However, I think that While the Song is superior in every aspect. And the main chord structure doesn't sound like Golden Brown by The Stranglers

i love that song. maybe in my top 5 all time favourite list. the lyrics are beautiful. apparently, noel has written it about his younger years in manchester, but if i wouldn't know that, i would assume it's about someone who suffers from dementia and that person becomes a stranger to him and, eventually, there's nothing he can do about it.

But the last 2 minutes of 'Part of The Queue' explodes to a place that 'While The Song Remains The Same' never dares to go. WTSRTS just kind of dies without going anywhere, while POTQ ends on a high. POTQ might be my favorite Noel sung Oasis tune, period. WTSRTS is much more atmospheric for sure, but for me, it never really goes anywhere. Which is probably the point.

I love how POTQ soars while it approaches its end. It just grows and grows and then it explodes... definitely my favorite track on DBTT and one of the post-BHN highlights. On the other hand I'd say the climax in WTSRTS is not the ending but the wonderful solo which starts after the 3 minutes mark: it's short but filled with emotions (for me, anyway), it tells so much without saying a word. Actually it might be my favorite moment on the record.

Great tune! I don't even mind that it's Broken Arrow pt. 2 Falling Down pt. 3 Part of the Queue pt. 4.

Noel needs to base the vibe of his 3rd album around the hypnotic intro of this track and he has my undivided attention.
After listening to that part again, in retrospect that might be the best thing on the album itself.

After listening to that part again, in retrospect that might be the best thing on the album itself. I've always thought that the intro could easily be used as a backing track to some seriously sad film... like the moment right after Mufasa dies in The Lion King.

Still prefer Second Bite of the Apple My favourite of Chasing Yesterday. One of the songs I still can enjoy from that album. His best self sung song since The Importance of Being Idle / Part of the Queue imo. 2005-2015: The Importance of Being Idle Part of the Queue While the Song Remains the Same AKA... Broken Arrow The Death of You and Me / Soldier Boys and Jesus Freaks / (Stranded On) The Wrong Beach

One of Noel's best solo songs, by far.
It is such a beautiful track and goes to so many places without ever needing to crash or explode into any big climax. The whole atmosphere of it all tells the tale perfectly and I'd even go as far to say that it's one of Noel's masterpieces.
