I just saw Jeremy live with King Crimson and he was just amazing. The guy was really underutilised in NGHFB, he is a true virtuoso. No sign of plodding or heavy-handedness, he was playing all sorts of complicated stuff without even blinking. Plus he was switching between drums and keyboards.

I stumbled across this on youtube and thought his drumming was much more interesting and generally not so hard hitting.

He is a good drummer, but there's not much he can do with Noel's compositions from the last 15 years. While I don't deny there are some excellent tunes, nothing ever seems to go above mid tempo and there's a real lack of variety in his songs. Probably his uber-conservative management and Marcus Russell that want that kind of plodding tunes. David Holmes alluded to this in his recent interview, so one can only hope there's a bit more of a mix with Noel's new album.

It's more that Noel prefers to have simple drum patterns on his songs. There's a lot of interesting stuff you can do with rhythm, regardless of tempo.

Aye, fair enough - I just wonder why Noel thinks those drum patterns are so appealing.

I hope is gone for good. I know it was Noel's/Dave's idea for the drums on If I Had a Gun... but Jeremy is the hitman. I hope the International Criminal Court will go after him. And it wasn't only in the studio that they raped that song. It continued night after night on tour.

I think Jeremy does a better job in the studio than he does live.

I think rhythm is one of the most exciting things about music, and I'd love Noel to use it a bit more inventively also - like these guys: I think he has done some good stuff, though, especially on songs like What a Life, Ballad of the Mighty I, and Falling Down. Hopefully David Holmes will try and exploit that side of Noel more, and give his songs some rhythmic fire (now there's an album title). Will J. Stacey play the studio drums on lp3, do we know?

I got absolutely destroyed for suggesting he was a great summer by the mongos on here. As I said a few months ago if he was drumming with King Crimson, he is truly a special talent.

Just saw King Crimson again and they played a cover of Heroes with Jeremy on keyboards and backing vocals. How many things can this guy do?

He got out before he died of boredom.
Playing the same songs every night must be massively frustrating, even if they are great songs.
