Saw this new Kickstarter project earlier and thought I'd share the link here for anyone who might be interested.
This project is to reprint Daphne Oram's classic book An Individual Note, which has been out of print for many years. Daphne Oram was a pioneer of electronic music, and way ahead of her time. In the 1960s she built an optical synthesiser, which could create sound by scanning waveforms painted on strips of 35mm film.
More info on the project is available here:
They have until 14th July to raise the £10,000 needed to fund the project.
Here's a YouTube video on Daphne's Oramics machine...

Just watched the video. It's incredible how she created sound by drawing. Very interesting and fascinating stuff. Thanks for sharing, davidjay.

You're welcome! Glad you found it of interest.
Here's a fascinating BBC radio documentary about her life and music.

Quick update on this - they've hit the target and exceeded it, with plenty of time to spare.
So the book is definitely happening, and it will probably be in hardback as well (that's one of their stretch goals for the project). I think they're going to post some more updates soon...

Latest update on this... the project has eight days to go, and the team are hopeful that they'll hit the £15,000 required to reprint a hardback edition of An Individual Note.
When I checked a few minutes ago just over £14,000 had been pledged, which is a great result. More info is available here:

Received my copy of An Individual Note today. Looks great, and I'm looking forward to get started on this one. A great example of what can be achieved via crowdfunding. Perhaps the coffee-table book idea floated by Supersonic director Mat Whitecross could be realized in a similar way.
