I'd probably just download it for free to be honest. I'd then support Noel the proper way by attending a show or two and possibly buying some merch.
He gets next to nothing from album sales anyway. If you want to support your favorite artists, then buy a shirt or attend a gig.

I actually bought Chasing Yesterday. The next one? I'll be downloading that for free. Are we to imply from this that I didn't like CY very much? Uh, yes.

I'd probably buy it on CD so I assume that would have a set price?

Pretty sure Noel doesn't want to be compared to Thom Yorke though.

What if his new album was In Rainbows? I'd buy it.

I guess he wouldn't be against a Bandcamp style of pricing, "Here's a minimum price, but you can pay more if you want!'

If you want to support your favorite artists, then buy a shirt or attend a gig. This is basically how I excuse my pirating of all the media

In terms of sales and publishing since he owns the copyright to both he gets to retain the income from both minus distribution and other associated costs with recording and marketing. That said he will make a better income I would have thought from direct merchandise and ticket sales.

In this case it's not piracy if he is giving it away. True, but he would never do that.

Payouts from digital sales and streaming is a complete joke. There is a reason artists put up with the travel and hassle of long tours. They make far more from touring and merch sales than any other revenues. Large acts (think Macca) can easily pocket over 1 million per show. Most artists will draw around 25% of the gate at shows and 50% of the merch sales.
