Looking forward to hear what you think of the album! An interesting mix, and the influences from all the group member's other bands were kind of amalgamated into one album. Really cool - it's a lot heavier in places than other post-rock acts, and those are the ones that stick in my mind longer, particularly Scattered Ashes, though it inevitably (and obviously) reminds me of The Twilight Sad with a post-rock twist which is a potent mix to be fair! Goswell and Graham's vocals really harmonise well on that - would like to see them collaborate a bit more in the future!I totally agree with that. Scattered Ashes is the only "pop" song on the album and guess what, it's written by Stuart! Both Rachel and James have fantastic voices, so yes I'd love to see and hear them collaborate more in the future too. The Sads are touring in the US with The Cure at the moment. They just played at Madison Square Garden for 3 nights. Can't wait to see them again in November.

Didn't know that. Thanks carlober! Watching it as I type. Their album is absolute one of my best of 2016. They're playing at Crossing Border, but shame that I won't be able to make it.

The band is releasing an orchestral, instrumental only version of their debut album next month. LINK. Here is the orchestral mix of Cogs and it's achingly beautiful. I love this kind of stuff...

That's great. The instrumental version of Cogs is very beautiful.

Orchestral Variations is simply wonderful, it would work great as a movie soundtrack. I'm a big lover of movie scores so that says a lot.
The orchestral versions of Cogs and Folk Arp remind me of the French Oscar-winner composer Alexandre Desplat, especially some parts from his Benjamin Button score. It's a bit off-topic but here's my favorite track, which kills me every time:
