Formed by Stuart Braithwaite (Mogwai), Rachel Goswell (Slowdive), Justin Lockey (Editors) and James Lockey. An another band on my 2016 list. I think matt and carlober will like them. I've read that James from The Twilight Sad was also involved with them when they started, so it's enough to make me want to hear more of their songs.

I'll definitely check them out tomorrow, as I'm a big fan of both Slowdive and Mogwai.
Thanks for the tip mimmi!

I've listened to the album yesterday and I really, really liked it! Predictably, it sounds like a modern take on shoegaze with some heavy melodic post-rock influences. What's not to like? Breaking My Light is an incredible tune, easily among my favorite tracks released this year so far.

I haven't listened to the entire album yet, but will do very soon. Shame that I have to miss them at Best Kept Secret next week, but I'm happy to see Mogwai yesterday.

I hope you liked it, mimmihopps! The whole album is excellent, but these are my favorite tracks after a few listens: Breaking My Light A Hundred Ropes The Thief Give Up the Ghost

I'm loving the album, carlober. Absolute briiliant, more than I expected. My favourite songs are: Give Up The Ghost Breaking My Light Folk Arp Scattered Ashes (Song For Richard) On innner sleeve it says: "We made this record as a band because who the fuck really knows what a band is nowadays anyway?" In the recent interview Rachel said "We've had a long distance recording session" to make this album. Well, it worked Rachel and the world knows the result!

And I had to miss the last 15 minutes I watched in poor quality so I might be wrong, but something in the mix seemed a bit off, maybe the vocals were too loud or the guitars were too quiet...? Yeah, let's hope they'll upload it on the website and/or YouTube later!

They're not kind of a band to play in a tent when the sun is still up. I admire Rachel now. What a woman!

Elias , have you heard their debut album yet? Tell me yes, because I'm pretty sure you have and you love it! I've not sat down with the whole thing yet mimmi, but the bits I've heard inevitably sound great. As matt said, can't really go wrong with this line-up!

Their performance from Friday is on 3vor12 website now! 3voor12.vpro.nl/nieuws/2016/Best-Kept-Secret-2016/Vrijdag/Minor-Victories.htmlThey didn't receive a very good review for this performance, especially Rachel. I've read in recent interview that her left ear is completely deaf by infection, but she wears a special made ear plugg during a gig. This might explain why she struggled to sing during this performance. Still really hope to see them live sometime very soon. Edit: it's not a full performance, but only 24 minutes.

Will listen to the album tonight! Been a busy few days so now time to relax! Looking forward to hear what you think of the album! An interesting mix, and the influences from all the group member's other bands were kind of amalgamated into one album. Really cool - it's a lot heavier in places than other post-rock acts, and those are the ones that stick in my mind longer, particularly Scattered Ashes, though it inevitably (and obviously) reminds me of The Twilight Sad with a post-rock twist which is a potent mix to be fair! Goswell and Graham's vocals really harmonise well on that - would like to see them collaborate a bit more in the future!
