Am I a bad fan for choosing PULP in Amsterdam rather than DM30 in Dublin? Yes

Having recently listened to all of his solo albums again, the songs he wrote himself seem to hit differently. He's not a genius songwriter but I don't think he's bad at all. A bit underrated I'd even say. Spotlight is always on Liam's songwriting which I feel is unfair as other artists don't get the same treatment. His songs are fine and often good. They feel a lot more authentic and I want more of that. It's not something I've noticed before listening to his solo albums. Maybe time makes things stand out more.
That's not to say I don't appreciate his army of songwriters π They've done wonders for Liam and they've wrote some great songs. But he is capable of writing good songs himself. One day I'd like a solo album that's just him writing it. Even if that means a few more solo albums with an army of songwriters whilst Liam has time to stockpile some songs!
Get writing lad.

Yeah, I agree with you there. The problem with Liam though I think is that he underrates himself as a song writer which in my opinion he shouldn't as he has written some really good songs.

I kind of made this point the other day. I still think WMWN is his best solo album, but you can tell he's had a lot less input than As You Were, and COYK sounds like someone has asked AI to write a collection of songs that sound like Liam. The songs he wrote himself are far from masterpieces but they have an authenticity to them that the others don't. After Oasis split there was a common view that what became Beady Eye would be more interesting than Noel's solo work because - although Noel is clearly a much better writer - he'd become very formulaic in the later days of Oasis whereas Liam's songs were more varied. That sounds mental in hindsight and going solo has given Noel fresh inspiration, Beady Eye flopped and he's relied in songwriters to make the solo career work. But he is capable of writing decent songs with a bit of help, just not frequently enough to create regular albums.

Everybodyβs On The Sun - spaghetti western rocker Dream On & Jesus Freaks - Village Green era Kinks If I Had A Gun - The fan wanted Oasis ballad The Death of You and Me - New Orleans inspired tune What A Life! - Dance infused Broken Arrow - Shuffle acoustic stomp Stranded On The Wrong Beach - dirty rock Then you get to the b-sidesβ¦β¦.. Iβd Pick You - banjo Noel?!? The Good Rebel - standard Noel Beatles ripoff Let The Lord Shine A Light On Me - spacey, cinematic A Simole Game of Genius - His attempt at a sprawling epic. Didnβt work for me. Soundcheck more promising. Shoot A Hole - Noel finally letting his hair down. Wish we got more and more.

A question for those who want Liam to go back to his solo albums. Where would he go from here?
Using a different set of songwriters? I like all his solo records but it feels like he's done it now. Would rather see another record with John with some Liam contributions and maybe some occasional touring on his own mixed in.

Would rather see another record with John with some Liam contributions and maybe some occasional touring on his own mixed in. I would actually like both. At least another album with John, widening their soundscapes, and taking advantage of the invigorating experience that this album has surely been for John. But also keep building Liam's solo brand. I would agree about changing songwriters or deciding on a new creative direction that Liam is comfortable with. And in any case, totally agree with the points mentioned before that I would love more songwriting input from him. I'm a big fan of Liam's songwriting and I think he accomplished the sweet spot in As You Were were he brought in more than a few songs and ideas and his team helped round them out.

Really nice to have a clean, properly mixed live version of my favorite tune from this record. Number 2 - I'm So Bored. Don't miss that at X 1.15. Bit of a punk kick

Two years ago today Liam released his third album Come On You Know and also his live album Down By The River Thames. Still love the different sounding songs..bit of a mess in all... but diamond in the dark and don't go halfway still sound great. Xmon you know is a monster to this day also..especially the live version.
