Those were my dad's favorite bands. I know they were popular but I never seem to hear much about them.

I own the entire Yes discography (my dad also listened to them, heh). I really like "Long Distance Runaround". hadn't it been for my dad I probably would've never heard of them, though

The KLF are a bit odd on that list no?

Yes!
Still makes me sad when I think of Chris Squire's passing last year, this is one of my favourites by him:
Some of his greatest bass work on some of their best tunes:

The KLF are a bit odd on that list no? I suppose, but from some half remembered conversation I had with my dad twentysome years ago I thought there was a connection.

*raises hand* Check out Porcupine Tree too, on the Radiohead side of the scale but 4 chords that made a million is Steven's attempt to say a 'hit' only needs 4 chords.

Absolutely adore The KLF and I will admit to still listening to them as well. Bill Drummond is an industry legend who before the KLF was an A&R man for Warners before deciding to quit the business with a final gesture of writing, recording and releasing a solo album for Creation Records (I love that LP as well ) He then made his comeback with Jimmy Cauty as The KLF, famously sampling ABBA liberally for '987, What The Fuck Is Going On?" who sued them. When the Swedish supergroup refused to meet the pair after travelling to Stockholm they instead presented a Swedish prostitute with a Gold disc before burning all remaining copies of the '1987' album in a field! KLF- Fields of FireThey were as famous for their antics as their music, but for me the music still lasts to this day. Beady’s Here Now Flatulence Panic ever thought of founding an acid house Ibiza based dance duo and being yourselves for a million quid apiece?

Loved KLF, totally bonkers.
Probably my favourite stunt was when they played at the Brits in '92.
They were to perform their big hit 3am eternal and turned up and did a death metal version of it.
&Edit - just noticed this has already been posted. Yep, I'm a fud.

Don't forget the dead sheep with the message "I died for Ewe" tied to a lampost outside the Brits!
