What do you expect the new Stone Roses record to sound like? I hope they are not too obsessed to recreate the sound of their '89 debut LP. Personally I'd like them to release a very summery, ambient but experimental sounding record. My expectations for Squire to dig out his old pedal effects are thankfully pretty low. I wouldn't expect Ian Brown to channel his spiritual beliefs of the first album. So I don't think we will get an other I Am The Ressurection type song and I expect lyrics that are in a similar style of In The Year 2525 or F.E.A.R. I'm looking forward to it, hoping it doesn't become too nostalgic.

Only found out recently it is a cover version I remember the original version. I always thought he only stole some elements. I've gotta check my facts.

I've listened to the Charlatans last album recently and I thought this is what a new Roses LP would sound like.
It's still guitar pop. But where the Wah Wah and Chorus pedals were, on the pedal board, is a Big Blue Sky reverb now.

I wouldn't mind if the whole record would contain of 12 min Breaking into Heaven type songs.
I think Second Comming aged well and was maybe even a little too ahead of its time, maybe it just didn't reach the main audience anymore.
But they should not have cared this time. I just don't want to hear any warmed up 80's guitar rock songs.

The new single is like The Happy Mondays doing The Bee Gees while huffing paint.

Apparently it sounds like Beady Eye... the new one,
Millionaire-esque.
Let's all join hands
Andy Bell will ring.

Andy Bell wrote the music and Liam the lyrics... It makes me appreciate Millionaire. I always thought the song had a Stone Roses vibe to it. similar structure, but an interesting melody and almost "romantic" lyrics The production of All for One speaks for them though.

Now, I've heard the single, I expect it to sound like an nostalgic clusterjam.

That's why I want Liam to release new music before he gets fifty. There might be a point at this age, where an artist looses his wavelength. With a experimental backcatalog that the Roses have, I can't imagine how this can happen.
