Mick Jagger
Jim Morrison
Roger Waters
Robert Plant
Freddie Mercury
Bono
How would you rank these distinct front-men as songwriters??

Plant needs the rest of Led Zeppelin, Bono needs The Edge, Jagger needs Richards (ever heard Jagger's solo album? Complete crap).
What's Roger Waters situation - I know he's massively talented but as I'm not clued up on Pink Floyd I'm not sure who was the brains behind it all?
Between Mercury and Morrison for me. To be honest, I'm not the biggest fan of either Queen or The Doors though I like many of their songs. I'd go for Mercury - just edges it on his vocals and melodies for me.

Waters led the most iconic PF era and wrote about 80-90% of the material in that time period.

I'd say Freddie Mercury but is Bono really a 'classic frontman'?

I go with Jim Morrison but the real winner should be Lou Reed or Iggy Pop in my opinion.

Come on, let's be serious for a moment. Liam wrote some nice tunes but he's nowhere near the names in this list. Roger Waters is probably the winner here.

I am in love with Blur in last few days, so i think Damon should also be on that list.

Can't say I'm a fan, but I respect them highly - considering the complex mega albums they made, Waters wins it I suppose.

If this was a sympathy vote, I would rank him at the last position. But he shared credits with Gilmour for the most famous songs. I think I will go with Morrison instead.

Surprised to see Freddie winning the poll considering Queen don't seem to be respected that much around here based on past threads about them!! It's good though
In my opinion
1. Roger Waters 2. Freddie Mercury 3. Jim Morrion 4. Robert Plant 5. Mick Jagger 6. Bono

Everytime somebody says that Roger Waters is a great songwriter I feel bad for them. 'Cause apparently they didn't have the pleasure of listening to the wonderful and brilliant work that is Piper At The Gates Of Dawn.
