This thread illustrates that I need to listen to more music from this decade. I haven't heard most of these.... P.S. I dare someone to vote for The 2nd Law. Absolutely terrible album (though not quite HC terrible), and the dubstep track is far from the worst song.

But I'm downloading the free live recording right now and I will post my verdict on here as soon as I get home

mimmihopps The EscapistI'm quite honestly impressed by this stunning performance. But I've also watched the BBC live performance of There is a Girl In The Corner and thought maybe I wouldn't be so impressed by this band now, if I had watched this video first, because they would have appeared more as an stereotypic synth based indie band to me. Which is has been the complete contrary to when I've listened to their records fist. All is smooth and clean there, so that you could really here the nuances of what the sound of the band defines. So it's interesting to see how they have to turn up thir sound for live performances, so that fans can't shout over the music. I think it may well work great in a club but it didn't necessaraly work in this performance. However, when I've listened to the orchestra performance I was pleasantly surprised, how great it worked live there. It's flawless and has almost a movie soundtrack quality to it. Over all I didn't know that their very distinctive style was what I was looking for, for a new band to bring something new to music . I could have never imagined this combination of ambient renaissance guitars, synths and the singers scottish, bardic singing style that almost sounds french, with a slight Smiths influence . I really like the altered delay and reverb on the guitars, so that they almost sound like meadieval ressonating instruments. You really got me here and the album should be on this list. I might see them live as an support group for the Cure here in Germany. My favorite track is Pills I swallow so far, especially the Oran Mor version, maybe because the little leading melody is somehow reminiscent of Sproston Green by the Charlatans

In this tiny EP, they covered "Half A Person" by The Smiths and "Twenty Four Hours" by Joy Division. The Twilight Sad has endless opportunity and I truly love them. I hope you'll go to see them when they support The Cure this Autumn/Winter. I'm seeing them again in November. and be ware because their live performance is LOUD.

AM is running away with this? Huh?
Don't get me wrong, it's a very good album, but best album of the decade to far? That's a bit of a reach. It might be their third best album, much less album of the decade....

Whoever voted for U2 is a hopeless twit and should be thrown off the site but those indiscretions were made up for by the fact the no one voted for Vampire Weekend, who are the worst, twee-est piece of brain dead garbage ever puked up in the name of music.......and........
I think I know who voted for Taylor Swift and I can tell you that were he alive today and voting in this poll Mr John Lennon wouldn't have voted for that candy-assed, conformist queen of crap!
Speaking of which, where's Adele on this list?
I sense a conspiracy here. You crybabies are all butthurt cuz she outsold your boys. You punks need to grow up and realize that Adele IS DEPTH incarnate!!! Put away your childish things and embrace the power of love, the power of Adele. I have and I've put on 30 pounds. I'm more of a man now than I've ever been! Don't be douchey sacks of gaywads all your life!
Evolve with Adele!
But up hers and up yours.............
Record of the decade? Van Halen's 'A Different Kind Of Truth.' Stay Frosty motherfuckers, stay frosty!

I've never listened to instrumental music on a daily basis. Yes I will not miss this chance to see these two great bands on one evening together. I've listened to these songs on this "tiny" EP, but I've not listened to all of it yet. These versions were as expected pretty decent, great.
