Paralysed 5. Animals 6. Everything At Once 7. 3 Miles High 8. All Of The Places 9. Idlewild (ft. Josephine Oniyama) 10. Strangers On A Train An iTunes "deluxe" edition adds live versions of Closer and Sing. No b-sides?

3 Miles High's got some tasty bass licks from Dougie!

3 Miles High is the only one of the new songs I really like.

I don't really like 3 Miles High or Magnificent Time, but then again, I've only heard shitty, YouTube streams of them, so my opinion of them will probably change. Everything at Once, on the other hand, is amazing! An upbeat and fun, electronic track that is completely different from anything they've done. I'm a bit of a sucker for new directions.

I can give them a break for the lack of bonus tracks and bsides...Travis have given us more than triple album's worth since 1997!

I recently scored the "Coming Around" Japanese EP at my local indie record shop in Hoboken. Only cost me $1.99. Love collecting those random odd EP/single releases from the late 90s, early 00s.

You know those stupid YouTube videos where they slow a song down 1000x or play every single version of James Hetfield saying "Yeah"? I thought this thread was going to take me to something similar: a video of every Travis song being played at the same time.

Not only does Fran look older than time but he's really aping Thom Yorke's look.

Travis has some great songs but I rarely end up buying a full album because it seems like they've got a lot of throwaway songs too.
Also I hate fran Healy's beard...

Me too, its rather exciting to find such items. I saw 2 Travis 7"s (All I Want to do is Rock, U16 Girls) in a second hand record shop in the UK recently...only 5pounds each. I regret not buying them.

I love Fran's beardface. Much more worried about his voice aging though...

Fran's beautiful voice is holding up really well for a guy in his early 40s isn't it? Can't tell the difference from 1990s Fran. Not too keen on Magnificent Time, not bad but they can do better than release a novelty track. I do love Everything At Once though - it sounds really fresh and modern for a band from the 90s, and it doesn't sound complacent unlike many of their peers from the 90s. I also love 3 Miles High - it's classic Travis. They really do excel at writing melodic melancholic pop songs. A lot of their songs are so melodic and delicate and just float through the air, never feeling heavy handed or overproduced. Songs like 3 Miles High are so effective because they are understated and don't try to be bombastic (for me all the worse for it when acts do this as it sounds forced and hollow and never scales the heights some bands and artists believe they do). Because of this, their songs don't sound kitsch or garish, so it avoids the pitfalls of sentimentality that often traps their peers. Travis never overdo it, and when they elaborate more on songs like Everything At Once it sounds natural. Everything At Once packs more punch in its chorus than their melodic peers like Noel and Coldplay do at the minute I think. Travis are just simply very good at what they do - they don't experiment so like Oasis there's nothing really to differentiate their albums but unlike Oasis (though 12 Memories is stark due to its bleak themes), I don't feel they desperately try to rewrite older albums or with other acts who desperately chase a fad (ahem, Coldplay). They're actually the coolest guys around for just being themselves and I get more enjoyment and insight out of reading an interview with Fran Healy than I do with a cliched Noel interview or the now irking false modest sycophancy of Chris Martin. Like I said, it helps that their songs don't sound forced, and just sound natural and as long as they are being honest with themselves, I think the listeners can decide that they are honest in their emotions too.

I love Fran's beardface. Much more worried about his voice aging though... I think Fran still sounds pretty damn good. Very very similar to how he sounded 20 years ago. If only Oasis were so lucky to have Liam's voice age that way.

Radio Song is a tune! Has a mix of early 2000s Travis and more modern themes - can't wait for the rest of the album!

I mentioned somewhere else but my local HMV is only getting 1 copy of this in, which is now being held for me. Can you believe that? How sad! You'd think at least 3 copies for a brand new album...but at least I will get my copy on Friday.

Can't wait til tomorrow. Pre ordered the album months ago so hopefully get it first thing. Was at a screening with the band last week for the film to go along with the album and the songs sound great.
