Lennon2217 Also tagging carloberBe ecstatic Oasis old news Scroll down to 5th Dec 1998 Mojo article "I'm totally into Led Zep now," admits Noel. "Actually, I bought a double-necked SG [guitar] the other day. Jimmy Page looked really cool with it. I took it home and looked like a complete fucking arse. I had to send it back to the shop." Great find! The Page double-neck Gibson SG is a monster:

I remember Liam was friends with Dougie from Travis and used to play him his songs like Songbird before they were released and ask him what he thought.

There was this April 2002 NME interview where Liam talked humorously about wanting to teach Dougie to swear Oasis interview. blogspot There was also another one I can't find atm where Liam claimed to have' Nailed Fran and Dougie's ears to a speaker' and played HC repeatedly until they said they liked it!

There's apparently no streaming version available on the Absolute Radio website right now. No, I forgot to set my box to record it, only heard a little bit of the interview, which was Noel (on the phone) going on about the demo and how he played everything on it using the Verve's gear as he dropped in on Owen Morris who was recording A Northern Soul with the Verve.

Thanks deadman and asimarx for the heads up on this - didn't know this had been on! Fascinating clip, although it's left me slightly confused as to where this demo appears in the recording timeline. Owen Morris recalls it was recorded at Maison Rouge in July 1994, in contrast to Noel's recollection of it being done at Loco. Also Noel says that he played all the instruments on the demo, using the Verve's gear. But the studio chatter at the start has the following exchange between Noel and Bonehead. Maybe Noel overdubbed some parts afterwards, I'm not sure. Or perhaps he's referring to another demo - there was also that cassette indicating a February 1995 demo of the song, pictured in Paul Mathur's book. As an aside, the "Fuckin' hell!" from the demo was sampled and played in reverse on the intro of the album version of the song, giving a sound reminiscent of tape warping.

I always thought that was just feedback or some distortion from the guitar. It's interesting to hear Noel loves the demo. I'm not so keen personally - whereas he thinks it sounds sleazy and dirty, I just think it sounds boring and sucks the life out of a poppy melody. Thankfully, they sped it up to a good speed on the single helping that melody soar like it deserves to, and with the addition of Liam's amazing vocal take, it is one of the best Oasis songs in my opinion.

Noel talks shite 90% of the time so he's probably making the story up.
