What do we think of this band? I have recently come across them and am struggling to formulate an opinion on them. They have some absolutely great songs (Sit Down, Laid, Tomorrow) but some real let downs (Was told that Come Home would blow me away but I find it to be awful). Has anyone got an opinion on them? Also, do we know if the Gallagher's have ever endorsed them or slated them at all? I'd imagine they would have done at some point, what with them both being Manchester bands and all

Love James. The Smiths covered their "What's The World" live and they supported The Smiths. Front man Tim Booth used to be good friends with Moz.

They're brilliant - Seven was the first albums of theirs I got. Born of Frustration is one of my favourite songs ever.

Great band, although some of their songs are hit and miss it's worth sticking with them.
This thread has reminded me I need to get the new album..

Really strong band. They do have some filler records but their first 4-5 are all outstanding. Laid (the record not just the single) is still an all time favorite and lost among some when compiling best of 94 lists.
I was so excited when I got to see them live a few years ago. I never thought Id have that chance. I was too young when they're were at their peak. They didn't disappoint. Tim Booth is still a cracking vocalist.

I like the new record!
Outstanding songs:
- Move Down South - Girl At The End Of The World - Surfer's Song - Feet Of Clay - Walking - Catapult
... and the rest is also pretty decent!

Every Oasis fan should acknowledge quality songwriting like this.
My TV's staring at me It says go to sleep, go to sleep' Turns me into a Siamese twin Where do i start The TV screen begins Plugs me into some holy geek His point in life is incomplete My TV is telling me that only money can make me happy Hold the course and then sail Hold the course and then sail Across the satellite beams Across the oceans or seas To the lighthouse I could be I see some soldiers with guns And they are killing for fun They are killing to entertain me Caught between that world and this I'd sell my soul for a Bond girl's kiss Caught between that world and this I'd sell my soul for a state of bliss My TV's telling me that all our money goes into the military Hold the course and then sail Hold the course and then sail Across the satellite beams Across the oceans or seas to the lighthouse I could be I see some soldiers with guns And they are killing for fun They are killing to entertain me And then I heard your name As the spaceman came He came right through my screen And then his lifeline broke He began to choke Jump cut to another scene Lost a friend to the sea I lost a friend to the sea
