What's with the Christmas lights. They had them in the studio and on the road for DBTT, and they still have them in the studio now. Does anyone know what the deal is? Whose idea was it?
I really think they're cool but I just don't understand how that started.

Well, anyone that has spent any amount of time in a recording studio knows that you REALLY need a good vibe to make up for the fact that there are rarely any windows and it can get a bit cabin feverish really quick. I'm sure it is just to make it a little more comfortable to work in.

Yeah I've seen Christmas lights in a bunch of studios. And ever since Oasis laid lines of them along the tops of their amps at shows, I've started doing it for my band. Really cool vibe for sure.

Did Oasis invent it or has it done before?

I've seen it done plenty...Every studio has a different vibe... A number of years ago I spent a session at a studio (which has since closed) in NYC that was home to Gov't Mule, the Allmans, Phish, etc...It was an old Yiddish theater with a huge disco ball, huge steps like an amphitheater and all sorts of old persian rugs. To top it off, naturally, there were a ton of xmas lights and various "ornamentations". It was interesting to say the least...Lions, The Black Crowes album was done there. Good stuff...If I ever come across the pictures again, I'll post them.
