I'm sure there was plenty of talk about this cover when it came out a few months ago, but I was just wondering what everyone thinks about it ?
Personally I think it's a fantastic cover. One of the more fitting singers to cover an Oasis song.. I think she captured the mood of the original while still making it her own thing (switching the primary instrument from an acoustic guitar to a piano was an interesting adjustment..)
While Noel's version sounds a bit more cheerful in a weird way (I've long said it's a 'happy' sad song), Aurora's take on it is much more melancholy.. to the point where it almost feels out of place when she sings "I don't feel down" ! haha. Still a wonderful job. And I'm happy it's given the original version more recognition.. It does everything a good cover should !

She's a good singer and it's a very decent cover. She's a talented artist too.
Not like some of the Liam/Noel lookalike fuds you see promoted by the NME.

i suppose this cover has the potential to turn a new younger generation onto oasis,,cos you can bet owt ya like loads of kids will think she is the person who wrote this song only for them to find out it was noel gallagher and they then discover oasis

It's pretty naff, but it fitted the advert better than the original would have done, I reckon, so I have no great problem with it.

I loved it at the time but Im not so keen now, it did the job and fitted the vibe of the advert though so job well done imo.

I didn't even know the cover existed. Thanks to this thread, I looked it up and got it. Not sure how I missed it, but I think it's great. With so many covers of late, I get bored of the lack of originality, but I quite liked this one.

I loved this cover because I really dig overly sentimental ditsy breathy fairy singers.
Maybe she can cover Anarchy In The U.K. next?

I didn't even realize who the singer was until today, when I saw this thread and remembered that she also sang Running With the Wolves. That is a solid tune, and now that I know this, I might have to check out this cover again. Cheers to her for having a good taste in music to cover an Oasis song.  |
