I thought I should jump on the bandwagon... Anyway, ever since I started visiting these forums there was one thing that always bugged me, and it was that Better Man, imo one of the standout tracks on HC, was always regarded as one of the worst on it, or even as a stain on Oasis' entire catalogue. I mean, I know Liam's songwriting skills might generally pale in comparison to Noel's, and lyrical depth is practically at ground level on this specific song - below is basically the entirety of it. But the melody and Noel's backing vocals are just so thrilling and so good, even though they sound somewhat generic... this might not belong in a 'best of' album, but, in my opinion, it doesn't deserve the hate it gets. I'd give it a 6 or 7/10. /please don't kill me

Likewise. I do like it, though I'm aware of the fact that most people here don't. If got a cool grove, a simple lyric to go along with it (nothing wrong with that, so does Columbia), and some neat guitar work. It's not the way I'd expect them to end an album like HC, so I like that. It was good live too.
I just don't like the 30 min wait before The Cage, which is one of my favourite tracks off HC.

I hate it. The live version isn't that bad but I have so many bad memories when I'm listening to this song. It's awful. And what's with the 30-minute gap between Better Man and The Cage?

Pearl Jam's "Better Man" is much much better.

Pearl Jam's "Better Man" is much much better. Your namesake's go at the Oasis tune wasn't bad either

Also Robbie Williams (with Guy Chambers who used to be in a band called The Lemon Trees with the Stacey brothers) wrote his own "Better Man" in 2000. Oddly enough the year his ex Nicole Appleton set up with Liam Gallagher...

The absolute worst closer of any Oasis-related album. Seriously. It doesn't even feel like a "last" song.

This bugs the shit out of me "Better Man" and "It's Gettin' Better (Man!!)," WTF?!! The only thing worse is "I'm Outta Time" and "Ain't Got Nothin'," having the same f'ing "Here's a song," lyric, seriously?!!

I agree. I don't understand how anyone can even listen to Pearl Jam. Terrible band. That tune Yellow Ledbetter was okay, but otherwise irredeemable.

Freaking garbage. "I wanna be a better man, I wanna be a better man" and that terrible Stone Roses-Foz style soundwall plus the stupid "and I know you'll understand" with the oh-oh's.

I don't want to be too harsh, so I'll give it a 1/10.
It's an absolute piece of shit, the worst closer of all Oasis albums, and one of the biggest turds they've ever recorded. I hate it. I even prefer Ain't Got Muffins. I'm not sure which one is worse, Better Man or All In The Mind.
One of the standout tracks on Heathen Chemistry? Yes it is, in that it stands out as being a whole new level of shit.

The absolute worst closer of any Oasis-related album. Seriously. It doesn't even feel like a "last" song. The Japanese version of the album closes with you've got the heart of a star which works a lot better. The Brazilian version doesn't even include Better Man and closes with Born on a Different Cloud. Better Man is pretty horrid.

Atrocious, but unfortunately not the worst song they've ever released.
3/10

I've never really had a massive problem with Better Man tbh.
Quite a good listen.
And I hate HC for the record.

I like it, but prefer the dark, menacing ending to the song they had on the demo and some of the earlier live versions. Fuck knows why they changed it.

Logs in to Live4ever forum, sees a thread discussing a Liam song.
Guess what. Same culprits slagging it to shit.
