I love both but I think Arctic Monkeys are the superior band Kasabian are brilliant live and they've got some killer tunes, but I don't feel like they've ever written a proper great record (their debut is close tho) and their last one is underwhelming to say the least Arctic Monkeys keep evolving as a band and coming out with good music, even if I still think WPSIATWIN is their best album Alex Turner might have turned into a dickhead, but he's a great songwriter and he really has a way with words

For me it's the unchecked Kasabian bravado that started to grate on me around 2011/2012. These guys act like Oasis in the mid 90s but have not had the commercial or critical success to warrant such behavior. It makes them look like clowns.
They still kick ass live but I wish I could say their albums were still strong. That last LP lost so much flavor with the passing days and weeks. Just like bubblegum. So it was very appropriate that the album cover was PINK!

Once they've broken up, both will have great 'hits' albums as their singles stand out from the albums. For me though, their albums are hit and miss, with some mediocre offerings from both bands. Both had great debut albums and I've enjoyed a few of their offerings since, so it's difficult to choose between the two.

This really isn't a question for me. Arctic Monkeys have built a consistent career for themselves. Even my least favorite record from Arctic Monekeys, Humbug is better than Kasabian's second best record, in my opinion. Both bands are beasts live, but Arctic Monkeys are still doing interesting and vital things musically. Humbug is hazy but half of it really really great. They needed to experiment, I feel they took their spazzy guitar rock as far as they could of their immensely tight second record. After that, Suck it and See is just a really consistent. AM is one of the most creative rock n' roll records of the past 5 years.
Been listening to Suck It and See a lot this week. It's very very good album, that comes ohhh so close to being great. I just love its listen-ability; its a breezy, crusin album, that's eally consistent as well. Alex really found his singing voice on that record and his songwriting returned to all killer no filler with regards to structure. It's a really neat, tight, and purely enjoyable album. Not every album has to be a masterpiece.

Kasabian any day of the week. On the strength of just their debut album if nothing else.
Alex Turner needs to work out who he actually is before he makes any more music.
