What do you call a song that has been re-recorded twice? A re-re recording?

Tried getting into the Kinks and the Rolling Stones but neither of them do it for me. There's a few good tunes here and there but I can't really listen to an entire album from either of them to be honest.

Tried shuffling Let It Bleed starting with the songs I knew, didn't really interest me. I'll give Sticky Fingers a try at some point. It might just take me a while to grow on them.

It might just take me a while to grow on them. Imo, Sticky Fingers is their best album if you except the average "You Gotta Move" Let It Bleed is a great album but who has a flaw: the opening and the closing tracks are both absolute masterpieces, maybe both in their top 5, what can give the impression that the rest is not on the same level (still great though). About the Kinks, I'm a big fan aswell, what album did you have listened from them ?

I think Exile is their best, but Sticky Fingers is probably their most accessible; even if it is quite sober at the end.

Some really great tunes on there (Torn and Frayed, Rocks Off, Sweet Virginia, Shine A Light, Loving Cup, etc). A big rock party. It's a bit their BHN, the perfect summer album. However, I prefer Sticky Fingers cos' I think it's a perfect album (except You Gotta Move). Only great tunes, and one of my favourites song ever by the Sones: Wild Horses.

I've listened to the Alvvays debut again yesterday, and it's quite comfortably my favourite album of the decade. Really looking forward their new album, let's hope (I'm sure it will be) it will be even better than their first.

*sigh* How the hell is this orthodox Russian provoked by Belphagor's Helmut?
Not a fan of Belphagor, but it looks to me as if Helmut was minding his own business.

Brent Knopf is a very talented composer. I bet you love the promo clip of "Girls On Film", Sir.

Not sure if I am posting this in the right thread but thank you Prince for the music and memories, a true innovator up there with his idol George Clinton even if Prince himself probably didn't believe it.

We need reissues of The Verve's work and we need it now! The B-sides for A Northern Soul & Urban Hymns are as good as Oasis b-sides add some demos and live tracks and we get some brilliant music. C'mon Dicky pull yer finger out. We already have the b-sides and albums, they don't need to be reissued, they need to be remastered. Especially ASIH. This- John Leckie produced some great works with Radiohead and The Stone Roses but compared to Verve's 1991-94 live shows ASIH for me is filed alongside Ride's "Carnival of Light" as a less successful venture. Off the top of my head obvious choices for the role would be Martin" Youth" Glover or Dave Fridmann, or slightly left field The Chemical Brothers who have made no secret of their love for the band's early work- Guardian 2007

Swamp Song (no not the Oasis song) is a fucking amazing track. Taking the usual Blur formula and turning it into a song with a wicked groove, delightfully nonsensical lyrics, and demented screeching. Great fun!

There's a few good tunes here and there but I can't really listen to an entire album from either of them to be honest. I have yet to try The Rolling Stones but either did I get into The Kinks. I bought The Village Green... 3CD reissue, the debut, Percy and the EP compilations but there was no real sensation. The Way Love Used to Be became one of my all time favourite tracks, though.

I'm listening to Blur's new (2015) album. Still just a terrific album. Kind of bought it on the fly, liked the cover art and at first thought it was a Japanese import. Had heard it was good from this forum and I have to agree - it is a really good listen. Along with Noel's CY, one of my top 3 of 2015.
So far Iggy Pop's Post Pop Depression is my favourite record of 2016. I think it will stay that way. I'm excited for the new Travis one out next week** and the Ashcroft one in May so far seems like it will be okay but more of the same.
**my local HMv is only getting 1 copy in, can you believe it? What kidn of world do we live in? You'd think they'd get at least 3 in case god forbid 2 people actually want to buy the same record the day it comes out!

Weezer's new record is amazing.
And Iggy Pop's Post Pop Depression is quite boring. Really I don't like Josh Homme as a producer.

The more I listen to Reflektor, the more I love it. I don't take any songs off it, just put more of the fast-paced songs on the second half:
1. Reflektor 2. We Exist 3. Flashbulb Eyes 4. Here Comes the Night Time 5. Normal Person 6. Porno 7. Joan of Arc
1. Here Comes the Night Time II 2. Awful Sound (Oh Eurydice) 3. It's Never Over (Hey Orpheus) 4. You Already Know 5. Afterlife 6. Supersymmetry
Slowly becoming my favourite Arcade Fire album.
