This centers around DBTT. Before that album came, majority of us had a set rank of the then 5 Oasis albums. But since DBTT, we have trouble placing it amongst the others.
I find it hard to rank it though amongst other albums.
1.) DM 2.)WTS 3.) ?? 4.) ?? 5.) ?? 6.) SOTSOG
BHN, HC, and DBTT cause the problems.
HC in itself is pretty weak, and i normally rank it 5th. But im starting to appreciate it more. Hindu Times, Little by Little, SCYHO, Song Bird are all Oasis classics - and BOADC, All in the Mind, and She Is Love are 3 good tunes too.
BHN is, as we all know and have discussed, full of nonsense. Yet it holds a special place in all Oasis fans hearts. Lyrically, it's Noels worst album. But there are some great lines in there though, too. The sound though of BHN, even though the tunes are too long, is mega. Great guitar solos, Liam around his peak vocals. Sounds great.
DBTT: Most mature Oasis album since WTSMG. No doubt about that. It's focused. It flows. Almost all the songs are quality, and they have held up well over 2.5 years. But does most mature mean a higher ranking?
*** DBTT is a better album compared to BHN. But I tend to listen to BHN more and enjoy the arrogance and loudness of that album. Does that mean BHN deserves a higher rank?
***We all have built BHN up so much. Always defending it from the harsh criticism, and we've grown to love it. (It was my first CD EVER, and thus my first Oasis CD too - so it holds a special place in my heart for that too - plus, being 10 at the time, i had nothing to compare it to, so it was automatically mega for me).....So with that said, do you think we're reluctant to displace BHN from it's 3rd Rank because we made it part of our Oasis-Personality, if you will?
I wrote a shit more than this, but decided to delete it bc a.) it's too long and no one wants to read a long post b.) it was rambling c.) i want a discussion
So. Do you agree with me over these 3 albums? How would you rank them?
-Final Points- 1.) I know rankings dont matter 2.) I know rankings are subjective (i want a discussion, so thats fine) 3.) This shows how strong Oasis is as a band. Even in their worst albums, there are golden moments - and that creates this problem i'm (over)analyzing lol.
Thought? Your ranking? And yes, i know im full of shit, please dont slag me off in this thread. I want to have a discussion about the band we all love.

To me, DBTT and BHN are so completely different that its hard for me to outright say that one's better than the other. Sometimes I'm in the mood for BHN, and others DBTT. I do think DBTT is "better" in the way we usually think of some albums as being better than others, as in lyrics and such. But the production of BHN is just so crazy and different it makes it special in its own right. Plus you're right, Liam's vocals are great on it. And I can never ignore Don't Go Away, AATW, or DYKWIM. But then DBTT has its moments too and I really like the fact that the whole band contributed to it and Liam has really come of age as a singer. I can listen to either of those two the whole way through without skipping a track (with the occasional exception of skipping to the end of a song on BHN because of its length).
The same can't be said for HC or SOTSOG. Although I would have to put HC just above it. It's a better album overall as some tracks on SOTSOG like PYMWYMI and Little James I don't like much.
For me: DM WTSMG DBTT (barely) BHN HC SOTSOG

Standing on the Shoulder of Giants is shitloads better then Heathen Chemistry. Best Oasis single of this century (Go Let It Out! along with TIOBI claim that title) and it actually tries to be different.
Heathen Chemistry just sounds like they were wondering aimlessly between the typical Oasis ballads and weird ass western influenced cowboy songs (Force of Nature, A Quick Peep). Only thing it has going for itself is that it has Liam's best tunes.
As for BHN and DBTT, they both go for 3rd place to me. They both have their weak points, but also incredibly high points. I agree with catcher in that they are two different albums and can't really be compared. However, I'm leaning towards DBTT at the moment, mainly because the tunes Noel sung on it. And because BHN has the utterly boring Magic Pie.
1. Definitely Maybe 2. (WTS)MG? 3. Don't Believe The Truth 4. Be Here Now 5. Standing on the Shoulders of Giants 6. Heathen Chemistry

I don't mind the so-called shitty lyrics. Their obscure. Many beatles songs had meaningless lyrics. I like a lot of them on BHN.
The songs are not too long, but repetitive. I love long songs, but a lot of the BHN songs repeat themselves
