Both were made as the final album by music stars, but which was a better departing statement? I like more Blackstar(song) vs Innuendo, but The Show Must Go On is miles better than I Can't Give Everything Away. So... which one you like the most and why? Bonus points if you know why the poll ends when it ends

I like Bowie, don't like Queen so Blackstar is a clear winner.

Blackstar works better as an album, it creates a better overall atmosphere and leaves you thinking afterwards. That being said, it doesn't have standout songs like "the show must go on" is amazing, " Innuendo" (not very well known, but brilliant), "these are the days of our live" (very, very sad video clip) plus various other fun songs (Headlong, I'm going slightly mad,... Rest is also pretty good bar Delilah and Hitman). So they both have their qualities but I'm edging more towards Innuendo, because those 3 songs do more to me than the whole album of Bowie, even though it's brilliant.

What's wrong with Queen?
Man, if Freddie wasn't one of the best male vocalists ever I don't know who is.

queen is a band Ive never sought out to listen to properly and I dont really know why, I dont dislike them, their music has just always been there in the background for me I suppose, I think the show must go on is a great closer though.

My parents probably have every Queen album that's been made, and I've grown up with it, but I must say I never really listen to them out of my own initiative.

I feel the same. I like them alot, I have a huge respect for them and have watched documentaries about them. But Ive never once just felt like listening to Queen. I never had any of their songs on itunes and havent played them on Spotify. They are very much a hear them on radio or tele sort of band.

Drunk karaoke on Bohemian Rhapsody is quite an experience though.

What's wrong with Queen? Man, if Freddie wasn't one of the best male vocalists ever I don't know who is. So, so many things, but to cut a long story short: I don't like May's guitar playing, and I hate nearly all the songs I've heard from them. And even if I did like them, it would still seem preposterous to me to compare them to Bowie in any way. Bowie is right up there with the likes of Dylan and Lennon, in my opinion, not down with the likes of Queen.

Well, each to their own of course; but based on influence/impact, talent and popularity I most certainly think Queen are up there with the likes of Lennon/Dylan/Bowie. They (Under Pressure/Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert) are the reason I got into Bowie. Oh, and May is not only quite objectively a brilliant guitar player, also a very good song writer and a decent pianist. He also built his own guitar which he used for almost every queen recording. Plus he has a PhD astrophysicists. That last thing of course has nothing to do with the fact that Queen are brilliant. Or it might have. Listen to '39, a nice little country tune about time dilation and special relativity. It's basically "Interstellar" in 4 minutes.

On the line of the thread you would have to put up Johnny Cash's American IV: The Man Comes Around album there too. Hurt is probably the best cover of a song ever. I actually haven't bought Blackstar yet, I know, shame on me It'll be an emotional first listen anyways. I love Queen but my love only goes as far as their Best Of album. Hard to get a better "Best Of" than that three disk masterpiece!
