I know it's only for a few seconds (10 seconds, to be exact), but the shimmering guitar intro in You Know We Can't Go Back is brilliant. Any chance of Noel ever adopting that style or sound for an entire song? What do you reckon?

Noel is as experimental as the Middle Ages, so fuck all chance of happening.

A true example of the magic Noel was capable of back in 1997 era. I don't think it would be out of place at all on a 90s Oasis album, which is something you can't say alot of the time.
When i first heard it i got that feeling of hearing SCYHO or Champagne Supernova. A proper anthem that genuinely can mean so much to you at whatever time of your life you are in. It's exactly the sort of song Noel Gallagher should be making.

And this is from someone who likes In The Heat of the Moment. Should have been the second single after ITHOTM, and then BOTMI as the third single, to make it fit like the album and promote YKWCGB as having a preview at the end of it to the next single. Combine that with a good B-side, and you have the potential for success. Then after the BOTMI single, release a small single with LATD, Here's a Candle, and The Girl With X-Ray Eyes demo, then be done with the cycle altogether to start working on the next album. Damnit Noel, why you no be like this?

The intro sounds a bit U2-like, but the song itself is full on NG/Oasis-like. Yet, it sounds modern, fresh, and exciting. Noel's delivery makes him sound like he could be about 25 years old, and not pushing 50, which is perfect for the song.

It reminds me of The Smiths actually, and once the fuzz guitar comes in, it sounds very modern and sleek but in a good way.

(And I suppose that means the obvious: Liam's vocals, Gem's guitar playing, Chris' drumming....I don't know, the magic is just missing).

Those don't have Gem's guitarplaying nor Chris' drumming (but neither does SOTSOG, and everything after doesn't even feature Chris' drumming, but I doubt anyone finds HC, DBTT or DOYS "magical") and I definitely prefer them to everything that came after.

When I first played the album and this song I was immediatly hit by a nostalgic BHN type feeling. It reminds me of The Fame or I Hope i Think I Know.
I love it, I hope we get a few more like this in the future

When I first heard this song I thought I was listening to The Meaning Of Soul.

Surely Rock N' Roll Star is the obvious comparison to make (After the first 15 seconds mentioned, obviously). Huge rip.

I seriously think some of you should try and work for Noel/Sour Mash. Just one of my dreams.

When I first saw your post, I thought "nah, wtf is he on?" and admittedly dismissed the notion as mere poppycock. But I returned to it out of intrigue, and you know what? You're quite right, Sonny Jim. Quite right indeed.
