stay young shouldve been the first single imo, its simple and is more "classic oasis"
as for magic pie, is ok, the worst thing about it is its Noels song (vocals) on the album and what was the last song we got from Noel singing on an album? DLBIA, that alone is a massive disappointment. You wouldve thought he wouldve picked something ALOT better as a follow up to DLBIA and for his moment on the 3rd album.

The Masterplan or a joint effort with Liam on Acquiesce for example if there had been some A&R style control- but then the seemingly bizarre track list choices, production values, missed opportunities, etc combined with the successes is what made Oasis what they are, and also gives us all something to talk about

I started listening to Oasis 5 months ago. it's a fucking colossal tune What version of Stop the Clocks do you have? It's a compilation I made myself, it includes some pre-SOTSOG b-sides that weren't included on The Masterplan. I was too lazy to create new artwork so I just took STC's (and its name). I put some of the other non-album tracks in related albums (e.g. cloudburst, sad song and whatever on DM, round are way, step out, bonehead's bank holiday on WTSMG) so as to keep as much cohesion among the albums' tracks as possible, and a relatively consistent album length. it might sound stupid to purists, but in practice I found that to be much more convenient than to chuck all spare tracks into a single huge 50-track b-side comp album

I like when, after the first chorus has fallen away and we're going back into another verse, some lead guitar comes down the right channel and plays along to Whitey's drum fill.
It's those little flourishes that puts Magic Pie above the other "good not great" Be Here Now song, Fade In-Out, for me.

I never used to like this song, but it has really grown on me over the years. The last half of the song, with its overly long solo is nothing short of sublime, orgasmic, epic.
I find it difficult to listen to this and not get goosebumps midway through that epic guitar solo, and Beatlesque backing vocals by Noel.

The first minute or so is good. The melody in the verses is appealing, I like the effects on Noel's voice at the start, and the instrumentation is nice and delicate (on BHN!). After that, it all goes down the shitter. The melody goes out of the window for the chorus and the lyrics are ridiculous, and not good ridiculous like say, Fade In-Out.
An arrangement closer to this might've saved the song..
By the way, I freakin' love Be Here Now. Its my favourite Oasis album but this is the one track that I'd relegate to B-side material. Stay Young would've been a far better song to be included, but of course then we wouldn't have a Noel-sung song and we couldn't have that could we?

Magic Pie super fan right here!!! Those verses are some of the best ever. Gimme an acoustic version of that.
Haven't been here in a minute. Hi.

I don't like the "radio" effect on Noel's vocal at the start, it always bothered me. Apart from that I like the song a lot. It's a total cocaine track and epitomises everything about the album.

When I first heard Be here now this song along DYKWIM, fade in out and my big mouth were my faves.
8 years later nothing has changed.

That acoustic version is ace.
Shame for that French radio announcer talking over the intro.

I fell in love with this song the first time I heard it. But I don't know why, one day, I stopped listening to it. I couldn't. It was my fav' from Be Here Now for a while. I even wrote a song named An Extraordinary Kind Of Guy.

Alan's drumming on this song is really good.

Going Nowhere would have been a better choice (at track 6 with Stay Young at track 3) and given the album a much needed moment of chill

I love the “oh dear” at the end, even a coked up Noel realized how over the top this track is!

Magic Pie is made of cocaine instead of flour.

I love the “oh dear” at the end, even a coked up Noel realized how over the top this track is! And the "shut up!". He knew he needed to stop, but no amount of cocaine or guitar solos could ever get in the way of his duty to deliver the magic pie to us all. And deliver he most certainly did.
