We have a Pal system in the UK and Europe and you have a NTSC in the US. I don't know if your dvd player is compatible for both Pal/NTSC, so not, maybe you better inform first if you can watch it with your dvd player. Most dvd player/recorder we have overhere is for both Pal/NTSC.

You will be able to play it on a computer for sure and most newer TV's are multi-sync and can play Pal or NTSC vids, check your TV manual and your DVD player manual. Keep in mind that most of the more expensive DVD players are not PAL capable but many of the cheap models are since they use the same kind of DVD player technology as is in computers. You also gotta wonder if the region coding will be there or not though too. The DVD singles have been PAL format but region 0 so playable anywhere but that doesn't mean the LDSMD DVD will be. I wouldn't count on it sonsidering the DVD singles were only meant for sale in the UK! Look on the back of any DVD, you will see a little globe and a number over it, US/Canada is region 1, Europe region 2 and so on. Discs are not meant to be played outside their region but you can bypass that if you have the technical know-how or a multi-region player. I have an old Apex that I hacked to remove the region locking and it works perfect for all DVD's.
If you are more confused than before you read that stuff I would reccomend buying it at a US store to be sure it will work or wait until after it comes out and and I will update you on the status of the UK copies.
besides, the better the sales in the US are the more stuff will get released so get it at Best Buy or something!

So we seem to have two different editions of the LDSMD DVD coming out: an American edition (NTSC) with a shorter version of the film and NO Manchester DVD, and a UK edition (PAL) which features everything. My question: what the hell?? Why are we (in the US) getting screwed out of more than half of the package? Does anyone know if there is an Asian multi-region release of any kind planned? Or any other multi-region release? I'm not buying the 60 minute documentary. It's just not worth it (plus I've got the television version, which is almost exactly the same thing). I don't want to be forced to acquire the Manc DVD through questionable means, but it doesn't sound like I'm going to be given a choice.

You could order the Japanese version from www.hmv.co.jp to get the full version in NTSC. It may cost more but I haven't checked.

argh ! I can;t believe they are screwing us for the US version! thats soo aggravating...the only reason I can possibly thing of is that they show the Manchester gig over here all the time of RAVEHD. Still I was at Manchester I want a document of it! We do have a region free DVD player, so we will be alright, sucks for everyone else region free players are actually not that expensive that could be an option.

ya that does suck. Different versions in different markets means there will most likely be region coding, but maybe not. One thing is for sure, if you order it from the UK and want to watch it in the USA and are a total region/PAL/NTSC newb you can still switch your computer's region to region 2 and watch it on there. Or you could get a region bypassing program for your comp.
