Half of Chasing Yesterday is made up of just incredible Noel tunes: Ballad of the Mighty I The Right Stuff While the Song Remains the Same You Know We Can't Go Back Riverman Then you've got The Girl with the X Ray Eyes, which is decent on the album but the stripped back demo is much more superior Then you've got two songs that, even though I like them, show Noel at his most auto-pilot: Dying of the Light, Lock All the Doors. In the Heat of the Moment is certainly decent but I think it would have sounded a lot better with some BRMC like fuzz guitar for that main chord riff and losing those 'na na na's. The Mexican is a song I really want to like and wanted to like since we got the tracklisting...but it's just not that great, is it? Great live I hear but I've yet to hear it at a gig so I can't truly say. ...just my thoughts of CY since its been nearly a year! When you think about it........more than half of the Chasing Yesterday era is made up from many songs from yesteryear. - Lock All The Doors (Pre-DM sessions) - Revolution Song (SOTSOG sessions) - Freaky Teeth (HFB sessions - Do The Damage (HFB sessions) - The Dying of The Light(HFB sessions) - Ballad of The Mighty I (AA sessions) - The Right Stuff (AA sessions) - The Mexican (AA sessions)So that means Noel potentially only had Riverman, In The Heat of The Moment, X-Ray Eyes, While The Song Remains The Same and You Know We Can't Go Back as fresh material. I've got a sneaking suspicion that "You Know We Can't Go Back" could be The Magic Can't Be Right. Why do you think that?

With the prospect of his third album being written and created in the studio, I wonder if we'll ever hear polished versions of Come On Outside, Let It Come Down Over Me, etc in the future, or whether their time has passed. I've always fancied hearing a completed God Help Us All, or even a demo version of it. However I may have to wait until album #4 if what we've heard so far is true.

Have to admit, I've never thought about that. But listening back to it, I could definitely hear it. Your above point is one of the reasons I'm excited about this new project he's working on. A full album of fresh material.....hopefully.

Pray he is silent or at the very least more middle of the road next time.

It's a very good song. Not majestic but very good. Just Sardy's production was unneeded. To play the devil's advocate (kudos to The Crimson Rambler), Noel's more to blame for allowing Sardy to stick to his "vision".

Marr was right, The Mexican sounds more like a T. Rex song than anything else.

If I had a gun is boring imo its always a song at his live gigs that I let out abit of a groan, it just doesnt go anywhere and any emotion the soundcheck version had is ruined by the generic plodding production, its just another love song tbh, the only and single time after the soundcheck version Ive ever thought "wow what a tune" is that BBC acoustic gig last year, the drums and gems guitar parts brought it to life, I havnt listened to the album version in ages, think it needed a dying of the light styled guitar solo in there or something to break it up.

If I Had A Gun is a majestic song. Fuck the haters. Seriously. I was just about to post this now. I fucking love it, it's my second favourite post Oasis, Oasis related song behind Lock All The Doors. I even love the way it's produced and recorded. It was a great song when we first heard it and it's still a great song now.

I hope Noel will play Some Might Say instead of Champagne Supernova. ANY oasis songs we haven't heard in years would be special. Some Might Say would be incredible.
