I don't care what anyone says, this is gorgeous. Some people just hate on everything, whether it be LTBL or whatever single doesn't sound beat-for-beat exactly the same as what they think an Oasis single should sound like. Not every song has to sound the same, get over it. I for one find this marvellous.

I know you can't please everyone, but I still have no idea how the Back The Way We Came tracklist came to be. Surely something like this would have been a much better compilation? At least fill CD 2 with 10 tracks. I'm really on the fence about buying it. I'd only be getting it for the few EP tracks on CD for the first time. CD 1 - Phase 1 Riverman AKA... What A Life If I Had A Gun Record Machine The Dying Of The Light In The Heat Of The Moment Everybody's On The Run Lock All The Doors The Ballad Of The Mighty I We're On Our Way Now CD 2 - Phase 2 Black Star Dancing Holy Mountain Sail On A Dream Is All I Need To Get By This Is The Place It's A Beautiful World Blue Moon Rising Wandering Star Dead In The Water Flying On The Ground CD 3 - B Sides and Rarities Do The Damage Let The Lord Shine A Light On Me I'd Pick You Everyone Alone On The Rope Revolution Song Leave My Guitar Alone Freaky Teeth The Good Rebel Here's A Candle For Your Birthday Cake God Help Us All Simple Game Of Genius I'd buy that in a heartbeat. Same problem as the current real running order.............No "She Taught Me How To Fly" or " You Know We Can't Go Back".

...So is anyone going to agree with me that the Acoustic Mix of If I Had A Gun is galaxies better than the Sardy LP plod mix? Would it have been as successful released as this version though?

Broken Arrow The Wrong Beach Let The Lord A Simple Game Of Genius The Right Stuff While The Song You Know We Can't Go Back Freaky Teeth Do The Damage
Alone On The Rope Fort Knox She Taught Me Be Careful If Love Is The Law The Man Who Built The Moon Rattling Rose Wandering Star Sail On
Some of these are a bit of a reach maybe, but you could come up with another compilation with the leftovers and the dip in quality is not overly noticeable
It's been a good ten years

I'm surprised there hasn't been more debate on this topic, considering how much stick the production on IIHAG has received over the years.

Any other recent Holy Mountain converts out there? The new mix has completely changed my opinion of the song (for the better). So much more punch and clarity. My dumb ass thought it was a bad song, but I was wrong (all along).

Listening right now to a 2015 Tokyo gig and I have to say, this must be one of the best setlist he's put together in the High Flying Birds. 01.Intro 02.Do the Damage 03.(Stranded On) The Wrong Beach 04.Everybody's on the Run 05.Fade Away 06.In the Heat of the Moment 07.Lock All the Doors 08.Riverman 09.The Death of You and Me 10.You Know We Can't Go Back 11.Champagne Supernova 12.Ballad of the Mighty I 13.Dream On 14.The Dying of the Light 15.The Mexican 16.AKA... Broken Arrow 17.Digsy's Dinner 18.Don't Look Back in Anger 19.Encore: 20.If I Had a Gun... 21.AKA... What a Life! 22.The Masterplan It doesn't get any better than opening up with Holy Mountain followed by Keep On Reaching but Do the Damage and Wrong Beach is the second best thing. 5 Oasis songs but 3 of them are quite unique and different reinditions as well. Early 2015 and early 2018 are the 2 best HFB setlists, I think.

I've put together a playlist of what NGHFB album 4 could have been. All songs were written before the release of the first EP so I'm just wondering how it would have been received on here if it was a full album release instead of staggered through EP's and bonus tracks
1.Black Star Dancing 2. Wandering Star 3. Come On Outside 4. Flying On The Ground 5. Rattling Rose 6. This Is The Place 7. A Dream Is All I Need To Get By 8. Blue Moon Rising 9. We're On Our Way Now 10. Sail On 11. Evil Flower
If that album came out in 2019 how would you rate it in comparison to the other three? I think It's strong from start to finish with no filler but lacks an obvious single. The only weak song imo is Wandering Star which really annoys me, It's like if Little by Little finished building at 'It just don't matter now' then went back to a verse. It's such a frustrating song but the rest of the tracks are great

Depends on taste, I think BSD and Evil Flower are absolute bangers. I agree with your choice of singles, they're some of my favorite songs, especially Sail On, but I can't see any of them having a broad appeal

Black Star Dancing is an absolute tune. That baseline is infectious.
Sail On is brilliant but it’s not a single. It’s drop like a stone in public I think but it’s one of my favourites on the EPs.

I also think that the most logical thing to do would be putting Come On Outside as the album opener and Sail On as the closer.
Honestly, for me, if I only look at them individually, these songs are slightly stronger material than those on WBTM, although as albums, they've got completely different vibes to them. The only song of these that I don't think too highly of is Evil Flower, despite the epic intro, as hearing the recent live version, I've grown to love This is the Place as well.
Such a great 2 years it's been as a Gallagher fan.

I'll always stand by this: the BSD EP with the three main songs on the baby pink vinyl is one of Noel's best ever musical releases. I have it just over my monitor so I can always look at it, which is risky, but it's such a beautiful piece of art, even my cat refuses to push it down.

One thing I will never understand is the pathological hate towards Lock All the Doors. I honestly can't hear what's wrong with it. Sure, it could do with Liam's vocals but I've always thought of it as a great rocker and I can't wait to hear it live one day. Perhaps it could be a bit heavier?

I'm exactly the same, according to my spotify it's one of my most played songs ever. I love that song so much. I think the problem most people have with it is that Noel's 50 and that he shouldn't be playing songs like that. But I couldn't care less, it's not dad-rock just because Noel's dad-age. If you don't like it for a different reason I simply can't understand it, it's such a great, uplifting tune.

The production could probably be better and heavier but it was class live.

Love the Sons Of The Desert remix of Blue Moon Rising. Should have been the one on the EP.

I generally hate it along with Girl With X Ray Eyes, really poor pastiches/rehashes - a major issue with a lot of Chasing Yesterday I felt. But I listened to it via the best of album and it’s not as bad as I thought and there is a song in there. What it is is an Oasis song and one that definitely needs Liam so desperately - this is a guy so great he could elevate a piss poor song like Lyla and make it sound good. Additionally, Noel can’t sing Oasis rockers. And the production is so bland and lifeless, it should be much heavier and given the Owen Morris treatment. If I’d heard Liam singing this first time around with the heavy reverend guitars, I’d immediately like it.

I just think it's an average attempt at 90s Oasis (not surprising given the chorus is from back then), something he already did with mixed success in the 00s, but with the added downside that there's no Liam on vocals to elevate it It's not a particularly bad song per se, I wouldn't turn the volume off if it came on the radio, but there's nothing that makes me want to go back to it, it got boring very quickly for me You Know We Can't Go Back which is similar in style for instance is a much better song, there's a genuinely nice pop tune in there, Lock All The Doors falls into the Lyla category, nice singalong and great energy live, but the song's just mediocre and there's no feature that makes it stand out

I listened to it again with the best of and it still sounds like it should've stayed in the 90s. Late 40s Noel vocals does nothing for it. Sounds like a big budget karaoke session. Imagine '94-95 vocals Liam at the "I tried to catch her, every night" bit and just knowing Liam is going is elongate and add a vicious snarl towards the end of it. Couple in Bonehead's tidal wave of Barre chords as well.

The fact that we see those tunes as easy or lazy speaks for Noel's songwriting qualities.
