What a magical day that was though that day. Is it too long ? I dont know, you have to be in a certain mindset to listen to it, eg if you're tired obviously it wont work at all. But in a summery day, good night sleep and a coffee, feet in the grass, man... [b I remember going to HMV on the day to buy it. Still a brilliant record and one of my favs. A real journey of excess musical coked up landscape. Never got the hate. Nostalgia plays its part when I'm listening to BHN these days. Great memories of that day. You don't get those kind of listening experiences anymore. Of course you can still go and buy physical albums, but those were the days.

I've got a feeling we might get a new song this week. It's all been too quiet. New song, then the USA gigs announcement.

We're not getting any new material anytime soon...I'd be shocked if we did.

Oh Christ. Is it a song about being middle aged, off the drink, and missing your youth? Because that’s what the title gives off. The Courteeners at 50.

Paolo Hewitt’s writing is insufferable It's so, so bad. The prose is bad, the editorializing is bad, and somehow even with the editorializing he's incapable of creating any kind of narrative to support the various anecdotes. The second half of Getting High is just a string of things that happen without even a thread of connection to each other or any kind of theme. Where does he even get those anecdotes? How does he know what Noel and Meg Mathews talked about in bed?? Cite a source for god's sake.
I don't see how anyone sees him as a credible source. His stuff is about 40% pulled out of his ass and 60% Noel's self-mythologizing.

Huh - guess I didn’t look hard enough 🤪. That takes me back like 24 years, hearing that again - thank you! Interesting that it samples the Familiar to Millions version and not the studio cut

I’ve always thought he came across as a bit of a grifter. Smelled the money off oasis so tried to cash in on it. The book reads like it was written in a weekend. I was reading the kindle version and it must have been scanned and AI used in transferring it from print because you get stuff like dock instead of clock where the computer hasn’t been able to tell the difference between d and cl.

Yes, but as a young kid who just started to learn english, Paulo Hewitt books were really easy to read. It was also the only insights we had on the band.
So thanx, Paulo.

OASIS - then and now. The boys take almost the exact same picture, 3 decades on from the original. It still feels so surreal to see actual pictures of them together again in the same room! i.redd.it/gnekxjp8cipd1.jpeg
