It's also the first time that many in the public eye were seeing Oasis with Gem and Andy rather than Guigsy and Bonehead. They were better musicians, being more refined and technical, but it was at the expense of the brash energy of old. Was it? I mean for a handful of people maybe, but it had been 4 years and 3 tours by that point. I mean more in the sense that the Glastonbury gig was probably their biggest, most visible break for the general public since the new iteration of the band. Unless I'm missing a more publicly available gig (e.g. this went live on BBC 2 at prime time on a Friday evening) they didn't have anything in the few years before.

'they had even booked to finally take the stage together at the London stadium on July 8, 9 and 10' - bullshit, sick to death of articles like these cause it's blatantly obvious they're plucking random dates out of thin air

A double post, sorry mods. Here was a proposed rehearsal setlist for the tour dated April 14th, 2005... with Rockin' Chair.

This wouldn't surprise me tbh because I remember logged in to a Q&A on oasisinet and Noel was asked about setlist for upcoming tour and he mentioned the fact they weren't going to play supersonic/Acquiesce etc because they were dusting off some of the older B sides they hadn't played in years. Also remember him saying he couldn't play the Masterplan in a tour because it was too acoustic. Well, come the end Headshrinker survived one gig. Acquiesce was back by City of Manchester stadium and stayed the rest of the tour and the masterplan/talk tonight went into rotation around the midway point in the tour. In fairness Supersonic didn't find its way back until the last few shows

Rockin' Chair didn't even survive the rehearsals. I'm sure they must have tried to play it in a lower key.

Tony = ENERGY best Oasis drummer I get what you mean but in that sense (Energy) Chris did a better job. Alan was always too smooth on pre-MG material and Zak got better with time but Chris got it right from the get-go.

Chris got it right but tbf he had the benefit of all the parts being written/recorded/played live already by all those other drummers. Whereas Tony was there and then.
Having said that, I agree Chris ended up being the best of the lot.

Gas panic! 2nd night Wembley came on shuffle and I was giggling like mad. Totally forgot how funny Liam’s rants are!

Yeah, yeah and pigs might fly. Honestly, they make up these crap stories just to sell their paper. They need to report on real news and what's going on in the world instead of wasting time on such bullshit stories.

That walk would have been enjoyable if not for the body pain and it being a gazillion degrees outside.
Still, got some quality time with Oasis.

All Oasis drummers were great for the record they played on, including Tony. But live, Chris was the best.

My future wife must be okay with naming our child Oasis, regardless of gender.

My future wife must be okay with naming our child Oasis, regardless of gender. My seven-month-old daughter's name is Oasis. I live in Spain and here Oasis are not that well known, but when I meet someone, I tell them her name and they answer "Like the British band?", I like that person immediately

Friend of mine was at Waterloo Station between Taylor Swift shows on Sunday afternoon UK time, she saw Noel there chatting on the phone, sent me a photo.

At the Together We’ll Fly exhibition there was another sound check setlist like this except without Headshrinker. What a shame we never heard a sound check full band take of LTBL.

It was: Rocknroll star Lyla Shock of the lightning Cigarettes & Alcohol The Hindu times Bag it up The Masterplan Songbird Go let it out The turning Morning glory Ain’t got nothing Importance of being idle Wonderwall Some might say Don’t look back in anger Falling down Champagne supernova I am the walrus I couldn’t believe seeing some of those titles. I’m always so curious about what songs get chosen then don’t make it to the final setlist.

I vaguely remember reading here that according to Noel, those two songs were not included in the final setlist because of Liam (he pushed AGN and TMOS instead maybe...?). Can anyone confirm?

Tony = ENERGY best Oasis drummer I don’t think I could firmly say who was the best Oasis drummer because they all played their part at their time but Tony is definitely underrated and his style was ideal for DM’s songs. Maybe his slant on the MG songs would have been great to hear but we’ll never know. I can also say Tony seems to be engaged with the fan base. He signed a lot of stuff for the VIP entry fans at the exhibition (he signed a drum skin with the opening lyrics to Listen Up for me, along with some drum sticks). That’s a very special item for me. I’ve just put it up on my wall today actually to remind me and motivate me to always speak my mind and not b worried about inconveniencing others. (I used to be really bad with that. Much better now but this help keep me strong).

We have a few soundcheck recordings of TT but none of BIU at all. Even GOYHHL, we have recordings of, Birmingham arena 2008 sound check (lots of good bits in that one). But hard to imagine BIU. I think TT was dropped partly because it was the alternate version with the stomping beat that was maybe too close to Lyla. But also partly because (Noel probably) couldn’t be bothered. Would have been ideal after MG midway though the set.
