Does anyone else think Stand By Me, Don't Go Away, Stay Young, The Girl In The Dirty Shirt and (to a slightly lesser extent) All Around The World are all lame or is it just me? Occasionally I'll hear someone take a shot at one or two of them but I don't recall anyone else not caring for the full set. I love the five of them. My least favourite on the list would be Don't Go Away, but it's still a very good song nonethless.

Dear Diary
Need to get up extra early tomorrow. I've set D'You Know What I Mean? as my alarm clock. The sonic equivalent of a big bowl of cocaine for breakfast.
Your sincerely

Just listening to the b-sides and bonus tracks, skipping all album tracks is a great experience. It shows an other side of Noel's songwriting. Some amazing songs that couldn't have fitted into an Oasis album; for instance, Half The World Away, Take Me Away, Talk Tonight etc. I really think Oasis could have released at least 4 perfect albums in the 90's. All the songs were there and if Noel had been better adviced, they could have been even better. Btw, am I the only one who feels that Cast No Shadow was firstly destinated to be a b-side ? I 've always wondered if it was the case or just my impression

dont go away is one of my favourite oasis tunes, one of Liams best vocals, the lyrics are a great just sums up that desperation of loving someone so much and they are leaving, you cant say or do anything to stop them besides just asking and hoping for them to stay, its fantastic, if youve been through it, it just rings true, probably their most heartfelt song imo certainly the best song on BHN.
this performance is awesome, at 53:40, especially the last chorus.

I've recently started to like Don't Go Away and dislike Stand By Me, which used to be the other way around. Stand By Me now sounds a bit whiny to me, well the chorus. I still like the verses a lot. Anyway, those two are both completely ruined by the excessive use of FUCKING LOUD GUITARS. Don't Go Away has such a lovely instrumental buried in the mix, very Bacharach like, as we could hear in the OOPS thread. I love All Around The World and it's mega ongoing coke fest. The other two are alright, I'm a bit neutral on those.

I want to this hear this in full so much, sounds even better without the loud guitars, I dont know whether this is genuine or just a fan mix because if its a fan mix, would love for someone to do a full version.

That sample is genuine. I always think that's how it would have sounded if it was on Morning Glory instead of Be Here Now

They get a bit of hate on here for some reason, but I love them.

I 've always wondered if it was the case or just my impression It actually was meant to be a b-side- I know I have the reference somewhere that on the mastertape someone says quietly at the end "That will do for a b-side" (Owen Morris IIRC ) but it ended up on the album. I can't find the reference though, although I think it was either in Take Me There by Paul Mathur or Getting High by Polo Hewitt. As in all situations of this nature, I shall simply say davidjay any ideas at all please?

I'm not davidjay, but I remember Noel saying this was a song that he came up with when he specifically wanted to write a b-side. Oh, and I also know how to use Google! "The only time I've really sat down to write a B-side I wrote "Cast No Shadow", which was supposed to be a B-side but it ended up really good. There's a bit at the end of "Cast No Shadow" when someone says down the mic really quietly, 'That'll do for a B-side'. So we had to take that out when it came to put it on the album." (NME, 31st October 1998). " oasisinterviews.blogspot.nl/1998/10/noel-gallagher-nme-31st-october-7th.html?m=1This site is lovely, it has almost all of their interviews and I've gone through all of it when I found it a few years ago.

(Makes me laugh when people say it should've been the lead single off BHN! It's dire.) TGITDS is a throwaway. I like the others.

It would've completed the 'trilogy' of digsy's dinner and she's electric of awesome 'fun' album tracks . TGITDS is by far worst song on BHN

(I don't think Noel wrote any bad song between 1991-1998)

Never really liked Don't Go Away. It sounds like Noel was really desperate to write one ballad for Be Here Now.
Don't know what there is to dislike about Stay Young. What an epic tune!
Somehow i started to really like (I Got) The Fever lately. Don't know how that happened.

I am defo in a pro beherenowist so love all the album and when an album that good the worst is still great

Oh, thank you for the encouragement :-) I must admit, it is really stressing to perform in front of people/friends but when you start, you have a kind of adrenaline and it is just amazing, so try it. :-) I can'perform in front of my parents, though, I don't know why

My Oasis thought of day ........in fact it's every day ..........I seem to support causes that coulda been the best ever but something derailed tthem Examples John McEnroe - coulda been the best , but quit and never regained form when he realized it was a mistake Maria sharapova - Was on pace to break every record in womans tennis ...until she blew out her shoulder , which destroyed her serve and her carrear ( whether or not she ever wins again she coulda been the best ever ) #MASHA Greg Norman - for 70 holes probably the best golfer in history ...tiger and Jack included. But oh those last two holes A freakin train wreck Easy goer - This horse was better than Sunday silence. Trust me ..... But patient pat day Screwed him These are just a glimpse into what it's like to root for teams or people I like .....don't even get me started on my team sports ..... how does this tie in to oasis ? They to coulda been the best ......but they got derailed

In what universe is Be Here Now "the worst song"? Bonkers. In my opinion. Which no one has to like or agree with. You don't like Cast No Shadow, which is one of my favourite Oasis songs, but I'm not bashing you for that, am I? I might do it..
